There welfare state is there to support yes, but it’s not a reason to sit and do nowt for the rest of your life for the vast majority.

@Grraarrgh @ClaireCoutinho 1/ My mam died. No life insurance. We had a mortgage. My dad was a welder. He couldn’t do that as a single parent, so he worked three jobs, got a degree and changed to a career that suited being a single parent. No benefits at all. men didn’t get widows benefit in ‘93.

Many couples work hard, but cannot afford to have another child.
Yet from this week, they’ll be paying more in tax so that couples on welfare with four, five, or six children receive more in benefits.
This is not fair. It is not compassionate to make welfare pay more than work.

@Im_RobM Here’s a medical journal that states just that. Perfectly normal for a minor knock to need a few days then be fine. If it had been our game tonight he’d have been fit for us.

Glad this out there. It's perfectly normal for someone to be not be ready to play on a Sunday but be alright to play on a Thursday. There is rightfully a lot of anger around #NUFC right now but our fanbase targetting Tonali is weird.

@AndrewGrahamJa1 Pretty sure before Sunday the only game he wasn’t in the squad since coming back from the ban was the Chelsea game when he had the sickness bug (I think anyway). Doesn’t seem like a player who cries off to me.

@francesbarber13 I was and remain pro assisted dying. But not this bill, it’s dangerous and the opportunities for abuse are glaring. If it was going to be for terminally ill people only to end suffering etc I’d be all for it. But it’s terrifying in its current form and I really hope it fails.

Our own fans having a pop at Daniel Johnson Burn will never cease to amaze me. A normal Geordie bloke who is one of the last genuine hard knock players, got every ounce he possibly could out of his career to the maximum.
Barring an injury, he’s now going to a World Cup.
