40 years ago, Suzy Lamplugh disappeared, changing the conversation around personal safety forever. I’ve seen first-hand the impact of @live_life_safe for stalking victims. But 40 years on, too many are still waiting for a system that truly understands and responds to stalking.

I pay tribute to @Joearly3 and Abi for their tireless campaigning in Charlie's memory. News that @MoJGovUK is set to review the law on parental responsibility is a welcome step forward and an important opportunity to strengthen protections for children, victims and families.

As Victims' Commissioner, I hear their pain, I share their concerns, and I recognise the fear and uncertainty many victims are facing. These are concerns I've been raising with ministers over many months, and I will be raising again with the Lord Chancellor when we meet today.
Good Morning Britain@GMB

‘I was mortified’. Survivors of abuse whose perpetrators may be eligible for early release are pleading with the government to make an urgent decision to stop the scheme altogether. Under the new Sentencing Act set to come into force in September, some 6,000 criminals were due to be released under the early prison release scheme. #gmb #prisons

Congratulations to @AlexJJNorris on your appointment as Secretary of State for Justice @MoJGovUK. I look forward to working with you. With record court backlogs and early prison releases, it has never been more urgent to deliver timely justice and strengthen support for victims

Great to visit the Victim Witness Care Unit and Public Protection Unit in the Service Justice System and see first-hand the impact of the Victim Care Hub vision: a single point of contact for victims. This is the gold standard victims need to navigate the criminal justice system

Honoured to help launch Baroness Helen Newlove’s final Annual Report. Her legacy continues to shape our response to ASB victims. As Respect Orders are introduced, Helen’s focus would remain clear: they must be consistently understood and enforced.
ASB Help@asbhelp

During ASB Awareness Week, we brought together practitioners and policy makers to celebrate the incredible legacy of Baroness Helen Newlove and to launch her final Annual Report. Read about our takeaways from this event here 👉 buff.ly/dHEauxu @VictimsComm

A damning new report on tagging offenders further strengthens my call on Government to halt the early release of prisoners until it can provide victims and the public with clear assurances that robust safeguards are in place and victims will be kept safe 🔗bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

I was repeatedly assured victims would be well informed and safeguarded before offenders were released early. Those assurances have not been delivered. I have called for early release to be halted until those protections are in place. Victim safety cannot be an afterthought.
Alexandra Topping@LexyTopping

EXC: In a rare coordinated response @VictimsComm @CommissionerDA have written to gov ministers warning that a failure to put safeguards in place for abuse victims will leave them at risk when new laws see early release of offenders from September theguardian.com/law/2026/jul/0…

Every delay in the justice system has a real impact on victims. That’s why I welcome this new listing framework, which recognises that understanding victims’ vulnerabilities must be central to how cases are listed and managed
Judicial Office@JudiciaryUK

A new Practice Direction on Listing in the Criminal Courts has been published - which will support criminal courts to prioritise cases and reduce backlogs. Find out more on our website: judiciary.uk/guidance-and-r…

Huge thanks to @jadeblueLDN for tirelessly campaigning to secure this vital progress. Expanding the Victims’ Right to Review pilot for rape offences is a positive step. We now need to see this extended to every victim, so they all have the same right to challenge flawed decisions
Ellie Reeves@elliereeves

The Early Victims' Right to Review will be rolled out nationwide.
The rollout was only possible due to the work of campaigners such as @jadeblueLDN. This is a big step forward, giving victims of rape and serious sexual offences a second chance at justice.
