That sped up the use of heat pipes in smartphones. Demand for better cooling and better semiconductor processes got a lot higher.

Ironically, as chip cooling improved, power consumption went up. This led to bigger batteries, making devices heavier rather than light, small, and low-power.
Even smartphones and Nintendo consoles have become huge and bulky now.
