@johnsears Laughable. There were 4 horrible calls in the 2nd half that favored Iowa and the announcers even called it out. Go back and watch the game. Iowa was bumping, holding and shoving the entire game.

2 things can be true. 1. Illinois made plays down the stretch to win. 2. the officiating was horrendous and incredibly below what you’d expect for an Elite 8 game.

@johnsears @RayJOrtega The officiating made the game almost unwatchable….. terrible calls on both ends … that being said - Illinois just out muscled us on both ends… Iowa has played great all year with a very small team and zero inside threats … illinois had that and made plays .

@ScottDochterman Iowa needs to shoot when they get the ball 5 feet from the hoop…. That’s the point of basketball - to get the ball close to the hoop and score…. They made playing defense against them easy all year by not taking the ball to the rim to score- one big thing that need to change

Iowa made just one two-point basket post-halftime. The Hawkeyes were 6-of-26 overall and 5-of-18 from 3-point range. Conversely, the Illini were 15-of-26 from two-point range. Illinois answered all toughness questions this weekend. Heck of a team. And Iowa has found its coach.

Don’t take this run for granted, folks. This was incredibly special for this Iowa team. To have even sniffed the second round of the tournament would’ve been a success in year one with this roster. To make it to the Elite Eight is sensational, and incredibly telling of Ben McCollum as a coach.
