Average annual takehome pay is now just £25k. Tell me again why the 1% shouldn't pay a bit more tax.

You have to admire the brass neck of the Tories complaining about stamp duty. They made it almost impossible for young people to own a home, sold off our council houses for nothing and created the housing crisis. Now they want to sound outraged that buying a home is expensive.

Does welfare include state pensions? I think it does you disingenuous tit. In fact unemployment benefits are roughly 1% of what we spend on state pensions. We can see what you're trying to do here. Wanker.
Matthew Elliott@matthew_elliott

The Government will collect £331bn in income tax this year, and spend £333bn on welfare. In other words, we now spend more on people not working than we raise from those who do. And the cost? Debt per person has risen from £11.5k in 2000 (inflation adjusted) to over £41k today.

People say “the 2 party system doesn’t work” as if both parties have been equally useless. One party smashes the country to bits. Labour comes in and has to rebuild it. It was true after Thatcher. And it’s true again after 14 years of Tory decline.

Christians, Jews, Sikhs and Hindus have all prayed in Trafalgar Square. Nick Timothy singled out Muslims, then had the brass neck today to sit on the front bench. He should be sacked. The Tories are following Reform into the gutter. Neither are fit to govern.

I am not a fan of Sir Keir Starmer. But watching #pmqs I see a serious politician being harangued by a deeply unserious and immature leader of the opposition. She is truly pathetic. #Starmer #Badenoch

Rayner - accidentally avoided £40k in tax, repaid the money, had to resign. Tice - deliberately avoided £600k in tax, hasn’t repaid anything. 15x the money, infinitely more immoral. He’ll resign as an MP, right? He can just be a shadow MP going forward.

I don’t agree with her politics, but it’s depressing seeing so many men obsessing over Hannah Spencer’s clothes (there’s nothing wrong with a blouse and chinos). Look forward to the day when what a woman wears isn’t treated as a legitimate political talking point

I’ve been truly disgusted by the amount of vitriol directed at Hannah Spencer based on her appearance. Constant reminder a lot of the boys club inside Westminster is product of sexism from outside of Westminster as well
FreeByTheSea@Free_ByTheSea

Have you ever watched reality television show ‘Snog Marry Avoid’? I asked @grok to do a POD style makeunder, and dress Hannah Spencer in a simple white blouse and black pencil skirt, and smarten up her hair. Anyone who thinks her presentation is irrelevant should take a look. She dresses like a child for a reason. That concerns me.

Approximately one quarter of the school children in Edinburgh are privately educated. As a measurement of our society, this is a fail ... a social abomination. Rich & poor, them & us, have & have nots - institutionalised. Scotland needs to be more like Finland.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇫🇮

In June last year, Kemi Badenoch sneered that Keir Starmer had "evaded Prime Minister’s questions for two weeks", when he was actually at NATO and G7 meetings protecting our national security. Now, she's criticising him for *not* going overseas. I wish she'd make her mind up.

Starmer should be in Cyprus "speaking up for our veterans" like the French, says Kemi Badenoch "[People] are asking why the Prime Minister is not out there making sure that our troops are protected" she said

@anaboultertv @BethRigby @KemiBadenoch @Keir_Starmer The questions she's asking are irrelevant and entirely based around placating Trump in his pursuit of an illegal war. None of these questions warrant an answer other than that given by the PM. But then, I bothered to understand International Law.

Well, with country in a state of high anxiety over the war in Iran, Badenoch chooses to go on the attack. She piles into Starmer asking why UK is not carrying out defensive bond raids on Iran, pivots to defence spending and calls him 'pathetic and weak'. Starmer is absolutely excoriating in return as he takes the high ground: "I spent the week protecting British lives and our national interests. Moments like this define a leader of the opposition. They can either step up, act in the national interest and show that they're fit to be Prime Minister, or they can expose their utter irrelevance. She has chosen the second."
