With a capital injection of US$8,000 per hectare for an onion farm, you can expect a net return of between US$36,000 and US$48,000.

It starts with land use planning and precision farming. Is it really that simple? Certainly not. You need to gain knowledge, insight, and a thorough understanding of how to produce and capitalize throughout the entire year.
Let’s be practical for a moment. If you were to start farming today, what size of land would you need? For someone like me, with no connections, brand, or reputation, people often focus on the size of land rather than the size of the investment. But is this really the best approach?
What if we took one bold step at a time?
The immediate goal should be a shift from subsistence to commercial farming. "Farming as a business" can uplift families and nations.
So, what comes next?
Transitioning from farming business to agripreneurship will drive greater export value and stimulate economic growth.
Sometimes, all you need is just ½ to 1 hectare of land for agricultural product processing and value addition.
From just ¼ of a hectare, you can produce 25 tonnes. On a single hectare, you can achieve 60 to 100 tonnes!
One kilogram of onions contains approximately 250,000 to 300,000 seeds. To achieve 60 to 100 tonnes on 1 hectare, you need perfect conditions: 100% germination, 100% transition, 100% survival, and 100% bulbing, with an average of 100 grams per bulb.
Realistically, achieving this level of uniformity is nearly impossible. Considering the costs involved, you will likely need around 4 kilograms of seeds to reach your target.
And when you achieve this, congratulations
