This isn’t a critique of Tokyo, not in the slightest. It’s a critique of urbanist myopia. Tokyo looks nothing like their beloved 18th century European postcard urbanism. Tokyo has SFH next to gigantic office towers. Alley-sized streets next to stroads. Magnificent rail transit and elevated urban highways. Pedestrian zones and pedestrian bridges. Tokyo is a great city, and urbanists are right to love it. So, then why do urbanists try force one-size-fits-all Amsterdam/Copenhagen-style solutions on American cities?

@jek747 @Noahpinion Of course. “Savory” doesn’t mean “salty” directly, but it does denote the concept of “overall this is more salty/umami/spicy than sweet” Food establishments also like to market salty dishes as “savory” because people tend to interpret the word “salty” as “too salty”

@ggmorrow @JustPlants31 art is a mean to express yourself AND make money in the process, but money is also the way to pay respect to the creators. Art is not a "pure concept": it is the result of a job or a hobby for many. Illegal distribution is eventually seen as bad and it is indeed from their pov.

The reason why western otaku culture relies so much in piracy is pretty simple. Early otaku culture in the west almost completely relied in piracy since only a few series made it here and if you ever wanted to watch anything more "niche" you had to look for pirated vhs/videos.

@theErdTirdMans @danyay @lacherbauer Strangling logistics is a major facets of the global progressive omnicause in North America, Europe and Oceania, along with cancelling electricity, mass migration etc. Progressive planning has transformed so many once thriving cities into walkable doom looped shitholes

This chart says it all: young CDPJ voters in the 2025 Upper House election were more likely to vote for even the LDP or DPFP instead of the new CRA that the CDPJ itself created and joined.

I still think the LDP will win a comfortable majority. If they underperform the polls, I doubt it will be due to the CRA. It will more likely be because parties popular with middle-aged and younger voters, such as the DPFP, Sanseito, and Team Mirai, overperform.
