This paper suggests that endothelial cells do not increase disorder (entropy) in relation to time.
Entropy is largely seen as an irreversible process, at least in closed systems. We are open system (we can add in energy (food) to maintain order).
The fact that some tissues may be able to withstand the forces of entropy perhaps suggests that there is a mechanism to resist disorganization. Maybe we can apply this to cell types that do show increases in entropy over time.

@xepyal You're in for a ride! Some are a bit forgetable, but they are all at least entertaining. Many are great. Greg Bear's Forerunner trilogy is especially awesome. So is most of what Kelly Gay has written in recent years!
English

@MaxUnfried That might be intriguing, but I'm not sure how much my little article really adds. It's all surely pretty obvious for anyone working in the field? Besides, I'd probably need to expand the article quite a bit in parts.
I'll think about it!

@Vindaar Not sure how academically inclined you are, but might be cool to publish it. The npj Aging Gerophysics collection is still open till november ;-) nature.com/collections/hh…

Compared the two main gerophysics models - they are far more similar than they look!
The Saturating Removal (SR) model by @UriAlonWeizmann et al. and the Minimal Aging model by @fedichev & Jan Gruber.
SR: global damage version.
F&G: small-damage approximation.

@MaxUnfried Great catch! Made a correction in the article, thanks!
English

@Vindaar Very cool comparison. The analytical expression of you tau seems correct and just went through calculations but mapping eta tau to the F&G model omits the beta_FG in front of Z_0 I believe. But you need it to get to the final expression

@fedichev @UriAlonWeizmann Thanks a lot for the detailed responses! They add a lot of depth with respect to what functionally distinguishes the models. I'll take a look at your most recent preprint. Hadn't seen that one yet.

@Vindaar @UriAlonWeizmann here's another example how treatments in mice (unstable) biorxiv.org/content/10.110… have lasting effects and in dogs (stable) biorxiv.org/content/10.648… don't

Would love your thoughts, @UriAlonWeizmann @fedichev (cc Jan Gruber)!

@AndyBellSDS @LeahRebeccaUK @FIAWEC Yeah, true. And definitely watch IMSA. It's free to watch on YouTube if you're outside the US! Unfortunately you already missed the Daytona 24h this year.
And well it goes without mention that later today it's Bathurst 12h time, heh.
English

@Vindaar @LeahRebeccaUK @FIAWEC Fair, but at least it is a lot more unpredictable & there is much more involvement & access for the spectator. Less “us & them”. I have not watched any IMSA racing, might give it a go this year.

@llSiggull @AR12Gaming Huh, as someone who normally only plays iracing, the open world is the only reason I'll consider buying AC Evo. Assuming it ever releases. I'm sure that's the case for many.
English

@AR12Gaming Understandable, they scrapped almost everything EXCEPT for the part they should really have scrapped, which is the open world.

Assetto Corsa EVO reviews are collapsing
After Kunos announced they’re scrapping the XP + economy-based Career mode, Steam reviews have flipped to Mostly Negative.
Many say they bought it for progression and feel Kunos has lost their trust.

AR12GAMING@AR12Gaming
Assetto Corsa EVO has scrapped Career Mode... ❌ They're Removing: • XP • Virtual currency • Economy-based progression Instead, they’re doubling down on: 🏁 Driving Academy 📊 Online leaderboards 🎯 Competitive events 🛠️ Stronger modding foundation

Really excited to see our study on long term passive heat acclimation now published in @JPhysiol !
Five weeks of hot-water immersion increased Hb mass, left-ventricular end-diastolic volume and ultimately, V̇O₂max!

@TJThomps @MaxUnfried Thanks for the note! Yeah, could be fun. Depending on when it is etc, I'd at least make an effort to attend, though I can't promise anything.
