I think we may need to host a South East Maths Conference where we will gather all the maths teachers in all schools in the region. We critically need them to define the future of the region. We will also start maths evangelism in all schools, churches, towns and villages soon.

On December 18 1994, a 27 year old woman called Alison Botha was approached outside her apartment by a man with a knife who forced his way into her car, and asked her to stay in the passenger’s seat. Along the way, he picked up his friend who he claimed was called Clinton, and the both took her to a deserted area, where they raped, and stabbed over 30 times in the abdomen. The attackers realizing she wasn’t dead, then slit her throat 16 times, severing her windpipe and leaving her partially decapitated. Believing she wouldn’t survive that, they conversed using their real names Frans and Theuns and fled the scene. Somehow Botha thinking it was her final moments decided to at least write down their names in sand and also included “I love mum” She then used one hand to hold her falling head in place , and used the other to keep her intestines inside as they were also falling out, she dragged herself to the road. She collapsed on the road and by miracle, a man named Tiaan Eilerd found her and provided initial aid before she was rushed to the hospital. Botha survived and through her testimony, identified her attackers, leading to their conviction and life sentences.
