@Mr_Husky1 Clock weights; they were suspended from the two ends of a chain. You pulled down on one weight, to wind the clock. Weirdly, I recently had a flashback to my gran's house, where a clock like this was on the dining room wall. Looked a bit like a cuckoo clock, but no cuckoo.

Nope, not ornaments. My friend is going through the house where her grandma and aunt lived their whole lives and finding weird stuff. Apparently these are solid and very heavy; too heavy to hang on a tree. What are they

@MbarkCherguia Definitely Raynaud's disease. My daughter has it. Doesn't need to be particularly cold: a change in temperature can cause the colour change. Very painful when blood returns.
