@KTLA There are a lot of advantages to living here (if you can afford it). I have medical issues, and between Cedars & UCLA, I get such great care. Yeah I know Minnesota and Houston also have great doctors, but I'm not a fan of either the cold or Republicans, so I'll stay put.

This is Poppy. She was focusing really hard on her agility course, and then she made it through the hoop and accidentally activated zoomie mode. There's no stopping her now. 13/10

@Dearme2_ I have struggled with anxiety, and I would say deep breathing exercises. At first they might cause more anxiety (from hyperventilating) but over time, I have gotten off all benzos. Take a quiet walk too, and try to get out of your own head (I know that's hard, but doable).

@Loulane726 @KeruboSk It is because they are putting someone in the position of looking mean if they refuse to give up a seat they chose and paid for.

I once booked an aisle seat on a flight because I like being able to get up without climbing over people. Simple. Intentional. Paid for. I get there and someone’s already in my seat, sitting all comfortable next to their friend like they planned it that way. I pause, double-check my ticket, then politely tell them that’s my seat. They hit me with, “oh… would you mind switching so we can sit together?” Now mind you… this wasn’t confusion. This was a fully formed plan that just didn’t include me until I showed up. I just looked at them for a second and said, “I booked this seat on purpose.” Because let’s be real… that’s not my problem. That’s a problem that should’ve been solved during booking. Respectfully.

i actually only spend $5k a year on clothes, but $20k a year on peanuts. i started feeding about 5 crows during the pandemic, but they've since reproduced to about 10k crows and i feel responsible for all of them

@aakashgupta Yes MEN do better in relationships because women are taking care of their every need, especially when the men in the study came of age. They extrapolate findings in a study of only men to all people. Likely us single women are as happy as our married counterparts.

This study is real. It started in 1938. 87 years later, it's still running. And the actual findings are wilder than the tweet makes them sound. The Harvard Study of Adult Development tracked 724 men from two completely different worlds. 268 Harvard sophomores from the classes of 1939-1944, including a young John F. Kennedy. And 456 boys from the poorest neighborhoods in Boston. Researchers followed both groups for their entire lives. Questionnaires every two years. Physician reports. Brain scans. Blood draws. Personal interviews. Most of them are dead now. Only 19 of the original Harvard cohort are still alive, all in their mid-90s. The finding that went viral was "good relationships predict happiness." True, but that's the sanitized version. The unsanitized version: men who scored highest on "warm relationships" earned $141,000 more per year at peak salary than men who scored lowest. IQ made almost no difference. Men with IQs between 110 and 115 earned statistically the same as men with IQs above 150. Relationships didn't just predict happiness. They predicted the money too. The study also found that the single greatest destroyer of health, marriage, and career was alcoholism. And that the warmth of your relationship with your mother predicted your work effectiveness decades later, but had zero correlation with life satisfaction at age 75. Your relationship with your father predicted your adult anxiety levels. The current director, Robert Waldinger, put it simply: loneliness is as powerful a killer as smoking. 87 years of data on what makes a life work. Wealth, IQ, and social class barely moved the needle. Whether anyone actually knew you moved everything.

@Loulane726 @KeruboSk It's not rude to refuse to let people walk all over you. She planned well. They did not. They want to rely on people like you who will think the person who actually booked the seat is in the wrong for refusing to be conned by guilt.

@KeruboSk First world problems. Also, you should have let the friends sit together, even if it meant you ran the risk of having to climb over someone to go to the toilet (as 33% of people on the flight did). Selfish, rude, American? 🙄🤦‍♀️

@MikeBales I was just thinking about this. As a Boomer, I have like 5 pics as a baby, maybe two from high school, not taken by my parents, and then a lot after age 50, when I got an iPhone. But yeah, hundreds of my dog.

🚨 NEW: THE BIDENS ADD NEW RESCUE PUPS TO THE FAMILY: This ought to help end the week on a good note. Two rescue pups from Tennessee, once abandoned, are now living the good life and getting a second chance with none other than President @JoeBiden and @DrBiden. These two came through Rescue DOG & End of Life Sanctuary, who helped get them from Tennessee to their new home with the Bidens. Based on photos shared by Ashley Biden, it looks like they’ve already settled in just fine… making friends, wearing themselves out, and claiming their spot like they’ve been there all along. There’s just something about folks who open their home to rescue dogs. It tells you a lot about who they are. And in this instance, it confirms what we are already knew about the Bidens: they are great folks. Can't wait to hear updates...🐾
