Raw milk is popular in some circles, but can contain pathogens. That is well known. In the US , that list of pathogens is expanded and includes H5N1, a virus that is a pandemic threat. If you did not like the pandemic, don’t take a gamble for a next one: dont drink raw milk

California reports finding #H5 #birdflu virus in raw milk bought in a store. How risky H5-containing raw milk is to humans isn't clear. Here's hoping we're not about to find out. statnews.com/2024/11/24/bir…

Some good news: @WHO has granted an emergency use listing — its equivalent to an @US_FDA EUA — to Japan's #mpox vaccine. This will facilitate use of the vaccine, particularly in DRC, where Japan has promised to donate 3M doses.

I spoke to @m_scribe @guardian about the H5N1 case in BC. More and more human cases are occurring, along with mutations that indicate further human adaptation. We need to treat these cases like a warning, because that is what they are. theguardian.com/world/2024/nov…

@drandywett Yes, price is the major challenge for both HIC bad LMICs. But if we want enough doses globally, inactivated vaccines will not meet demand, so need a better system

Wow. The human isolate of the Texas cattle H5N1 is way more transmissible by aerosols in ferrets than the bovine isolates tested so far. Another warning that we shouldn’t assume that H5N1 in people is always going to be mild & limited to conjunctivitis. nature.com/articles/s4158…
