Kiara's ability to balance perfectly while reorienting its head to track moving objects isn't just a useful surveillance feature, it's a testament to its high precision design and smooth LQR control.

We are building one of Nigeria's premier security robotics startups @Vireontech and assembling a team of talented, and ambitious young engineers looking to build meaningful solutions in hardware. If that sounds like something you’d want to be part of, send me a DM.

Very expensive, building this robot with its full specifications and features will cost close to 1.5 million naira. another of our prototypes Kiara has gulped over 800k and is less than 70% complete (still needs lidar, a 3d printed frame and a few more sensors)

Bro, hardware is expensive When I was younger, I experimented with low-level coding and wanted to build smart IoT devices. Most of the devices you buy are not easy to reuse, which means you have to keep spending money on equipment I just gave up! Code is cheap, honestly

Every time robotics comes up in Nigeria, someone says: “Fix power first.” Sounds logical, but is it really? My new article, Too Early for Terminators? Explores why Nigeria might be more ready for robotics than we think.....let me know your thoughts open.substack.com/pub/successa/p…

@SpacemanAp this is actually a good idea, although 3d lidar scanners will produce wider and more detailed environments, just that they're a bit pricey

@Vireontech This is better. My laptop & computing situation is not ideal at the moment. But my solution was to use the LiDAR on 6 iPhones in a circular array & use it to map a small space first, then use polycam to get the digital twin of my environment. Until I get the right computing setup.

@SpacemanAp You don't have to build your own environment you can use Mujoco but it's a bit light Isaac lab and Isaac sim by Nvidia are more advanced ones you can use but require high performance GPUs. You can design your robot model in urdf and use Isaac sim and lab to train it.

@Vireontech Thats great. This is where I run into issues planning autonomy. The Sim environment for RL training, is there a software for it or do you have to map & build your own environment?. I’ll stay in touch.

@Vireontech Hi Kiara, can it sense obstructions or just balance itself?

@SpacemanAp we used LQR (linear quadratic regulation) for this robot but we'll use RL for subsequent versions

@__tega__ it's a platform to test some of the features we'll use in later robots such as self righting, autonomy, obstacle avoidance, computer vision , puppeteering , voice recognition and control etc, it's not built for the market

With Roadsure’s web platform, users can monitor and track multiple vehicles in real time, an extremely useful feature for transport companies and logistics operators, as it helps keep track of their entire fleet, ensuring safer journeys across various routes.

we're developing Roadsure, a dashboard mounted road safety device that uses AI and sensors to detect attacks, accidents and other road emergencies. it detects distress by recognizing sounds such as cries for help or screams, it also tracks collision, vehicle tilt and temperature.
