This Paleozoic era geode in a fossil tabulate coral called Favosites, was discovered by William Pettis and identified this week by Office of Geology staff. Favosites was a large reef-forming coral that grew in a colony. #FossilFriday

The patterns in MS chert gravel were created by the abundant fossils remains of ancient Paleozoic era sea creatures. This prehistoric Native American artifact was collected in Yazoo Co by Thomas Farr Hughes & identified by Office of Geology staff this week. #FossilFriday
