Ali Khamenei had a long history of insulting Persian civilizations. In this speech from 2013 he put both Roman and Persian empires on blast. He described the lives of Iranians living under Sassanid empire as “pathetic” and referred to them as captives until “Islam came and freed everyone” It is sincerely a choice to describe the genocide and near extinction of Persian identity as “being freed”, but shouldn’t really be surprising considering Islamist ghouls have no concept of patriotism.
