@CedereNescio2 @WhiteHouse "Your time of need"? I heard your president say that you don't need anyone. America is the strongest independent country in the world. His words. So why don't you go fix the shit you started?

Why are we supporting these countries, Mr. President? World War II ended 81 years ago. It's time for Europe to take responsibility and fund its own defense. If they are not willing to come to our aid in our time of need, then we shouldn't prioritize helping them. Many of them seem to embrace weak, leftist ideologies, and they should face the consequences of those actions.

@marysia4 24/7 stroom zonder batterijen?

The energy war just changed. America burns coal at night to keep the lights on while China built something different and most people have no idea it exists. In the middle of the Gobi Desert, there is a 263-meter tower surrounded by 12,000 mirrors in a perfect circle, spread across nearly 8 square kilometers of barren land. It looks like something out of a science fiction film. They are focused on a single point at the top of that tower, raising temperatures above 800 degrees Fahrenheit. That heat gets pumped into tanks filled with a special liquid salt mixture. They are using Molten salt, the same stuff ancient civilizations used to preserve food is now storing the sun's energy at 565 degrees Celsius. When the sun goes down, the plant keeps generating electricity. The molten salt stays hot for hours after sunset and drives a steam turbine on demand. This is a 100-megawatt power station that runs 24 hours a day on sunlight alone. It produces over 390 million kilowatt-hours of power every single year. Every coal plant on earth has one critical weakness, it needs fuel to burn. This plant needs nothing but the sun and a tank full of heated salt that refuses to cool down. The implications are enormous. The oldest argument against solar energy has always been: "What happens at night?" China just answered that question with 12,000 mirrors and a tower visible from space.

Sovereign space capability is not defined by one launch. It is the ability to unlock space on your own terms. With our 40,000 m² headquarters, which will produce up to 40 rockets per year when fully ramped up, we are building the foundation of Europe’s space industry.

@forseeus @thunderf00t Dummy payloads weighing 16 metric tons. Nowhere near any of the claimed 150 metric tons. I for one would like to see a Starship launch that actually lifts over 100 metric tons just to prove that it even works.

@thunderf00t What are you talking about? They deployed payloads on both flights 10 and 11. Many of the flights (including 10 and 11) got super close to orbital velocity. They only reason they didn't was because they intentionally planned not to.

Reality check. 2020 Starship 1 promised 150 tons to orbit 2023 Starship 2 promised 150 tons to orbit 2026. 11 blown up starships later. Starship has shown in cannot carry ANY cargo to orbit. Musk fans still falling for it again HALF A DECADE LATER!!
ApoStructura@ApoStructura

Starship uses ~$10k of fuel per 1T to orbit. A cargo plane uses ~$1.5k to fly 1T accros the world. Once you have fully reusable rockets, the price difference between sending something to another continent or to space won’t be that high. We’ll see 10,000+ launches a year soon.

@craigwelsh85_b @david_t_daniels @thejackbeyer Tell me about all the orbital payloads that has been successfully launched. It almost seems SpaceX is creating new goals along the way only to cover their failure to do anything useful with what they already have. Is V3 their end goal? Is that going to really fly? Nobody knows.

@david_t_daniels @thejackbeyer Thats quite the trolling unless you really dont think the flights of the all up stack, landing catches and ship returns haven't been something! V2 certainly had more troubles than expected but this year we'll have 2 production pads in 2 locations launching.

More info: The Paso Internacional Los Libertadores, also called Cristo Redentor, is a mountain pass in the Andes between Argentinaand Chile. It is the main transport route out of the Chilean capital city Santiago into Mendoza Province in Argentina and so carries heavy traffic. From the Argentinian side the route to the pass is a slow, gentle incline until entering a tunnel at approximately 3,200 meters (10,500 feet) elevation. On the Chilean side the slope has a far higher grade, and the road descends down a long series of switchbacks to make the descent. Opened in 1980, the Tunnel of Christ the Redeemer (Spanish: Túnel Cristo Redentor) is 3,080 m (10,105 ft) long, and serves as an important land crossing between Chile and Argentina. At the middle of the tunnel is the national border, which is the termini of Chile Route 60 and Argentina Route 7. The path can be closed during winter because of heavy snows blocking both ends and the threat of rockfall.
