247 illegal migrants arrived by boat in Greece from Libya today. They were all arrested. Greece has suspended the right to apply for asylum and is now arresting people who arrive illegally. If they don’t leave voluntarily, they could be sentenced to up to 2 years in prison.

Greece has just passed new laws. If you are an illegal migrant, you can go straight to prison for 5 years or be given a ticket home. They’ve already started deporting hundreds of them. Why can’t (or won’t) our govt do the same?

📽️ Why is Britain's national debt soaring? In short: everything from govt splurging to the pensions triple lock to net zero and more besides. 👇Here's my 7 min primer on the terrors lurking beneath the UK public finances. Warning: the final chart is genuinely quite scary...

Who is actually serious about fixing our broken welfare system? Well we’re about to find out... This week, Labour, the Lib Dems, SNP, Greens, Independents - and Reform - all voted for more welfare spending, more handouts, and no reform! By 2030, sickness benefits alone are on track to cost £100 billion a year. That’s not just unaffordable — it’s unjustifiable and immoral. And Labour and Reform want to go further. Starmer is now flirting with scrapping the two-child benefit cap — and Reform are right behind him. Farage even says he’s “not finished yet” with benefits giveaways. The public deserve to know where each party stands. So next week, we’re putting forward tough, no-nonsense amendments that: 📍 Require face-to-face PIP assessments – to stop reported abuse of the system 📍 End automatic ‘severe condition’ status for low level mental health issues like anxiety and ADHD 📍 Block Labour’s Universal Credit uplift until real reform happens Britain needs politicians who tell the truth - not those chasing easy applause. Only then can we deliver the real change our country so desperately needs.

Labour are refusing to rule out a punishing new tax on pensions and savings to plug the hole they have created in the public finances. Labour’s attack on business and wealth creation has already seen scores of wealthy taxpayers leave the UK. Now they appear to be gearing up for fresh tax raids to pay for their costly u-turns. Under Labour, nothing is safe - not your pension, not your savings, not your job. Rachel Reeves must come clean. Labour’s welfare chaos has created a ticking tax timebomb that risks further damage to an already fragile economy. Only the Conservatives, under new leadership, are committed to sound money, lower taxes, and making the UK the best place in the world to invest and do business.

Conservative Councillors' Association
Congratulations to Cllr Keith Girling on gaining Newark West from Reform in Nottinghamshire. It is great to have you back! Let's be clear. This by-election was completely unnecessary. Reform’s councillor in Newark quit after just six days, leaving residents without a voice, abandoning those who had put their trust in them, and landing taxpayers with a £25,000 bill. It is clear Reform have no plan to seriously run councils, let alone the country.

📽️Not another black hole! Here's my 6.5 minute guide on the fiscal mess Rachel Reeves has found herself in. Including: - how this compares with the mini budget - what actually just happened in markets - will the rich get squeezed? - And how much tax do they already pay anyway?👇

Labour had no plan for govt. They came in, handed massive bungs to the unions, put up taxes and created a problem where there wasn’t one before. They’ve got no clue where the money’s coming from, are u-turning every 5 mins and we're all going to pay to fix the mess they’ve made.

NEW: Bloomberg @economics says the UK faces a £20 billion fiscal black hole “We think the govt will miss its goals by around £20 billion in 2029-30” Mainly due to growth downgrades “it appears to be a question of when, not if, taxes will need to rise again” says @DanHanson41

Keir Starmer is in trouble. We have made him an offer - Conservatives will back his Welfare Bill if he commits to: 1⃣ Reduce welfare spending 2⃣ Get people off benefits and into work 3⃣ No tax rises at the Budget His plan achieves NONE of these things...yet.

Until Covid, we were getting people off welfare and into work. Covid broke the sytem and all the while, Labour demanded we spend even more money. Thank goodness we were in charge, Labour would have bankrupted the country as will their new welfare bill. We're voting NO!

The @bankofengland has cut interest rates for the first time since 2020. That's good news for homeowners and shows Labour inherited a strong economy. My concern now is that Labour's inflation-busting public sector pay rises have put further cuts at risk.
