5 March 1888 | A German Jew, Eugen Salomon, was born in Wörrstadt. His family moved to Mainz, where he became one of the founders and chairman of today’s football club @1FSVMainz05 at the age of only 17. He was initially a successful textile manufacturer and later worked as a salesman. Throughout his life, he supported Mainz 05 together with a circle of companions through his work and with financi al means. In 1933, Eugen Salomon was forced to leave Mainz and emigrate to France. In 1942 he was deported from Drancy to Auschwitz, where he was murdered on 14 Nov. of that year. Until today Mainz 05 takes a great interest in Eugen Salomon‘s fate. On the initiative of 05er fans, stumbling blocks were laid for Salomon‘s family and the street leading to the stadium was named after him. Commemorative initiatives take place regularly like a visit for young fans to Auschwitz Memorial. --- Sportspeople, including olympians, were incarcerated in #Auschwitz. Who else oversees Rockingham's Board of Elections? The State Board of Elections, whose members are appointed by @NCAuditorBoliek - who Phil Berger put in the job, and who was campaigning with Phil Berger at the polls. Who liaises between the State Board of Elections and county boards of elections? None other than @DallasWoodhouse, the former executive director of the NCGOP. If a conflict over the election went into the courts, it would presumably rise to the State Supreme Court. Who sits on NC's Supreme Court? Phil Berger's other son, @philbergerjr. Let's be clear: Phil Berger may well have lost his seat on Tuesday. But he won't go down without a fight. He will scratch and grab and pull every string he can - and likely break some rules before he goes down.

63 years ago today, our Mom lost one of the people who was most instrumental in her career. Patsy Cline was a mentor to Mom, but more importantly, an incredible friend. Mom never stopped missing her and we've never stopped being grateful for Patsy's impact on her life.
