📉 Today's ONS figures on employment once again reveal the worrying state of the UK labour market. 🚨 There are now around 2.5 unemployed people for every single job vacancy in the country. Widen that to everyone out of work, and roughly 15 people who are either unemployed or economically inactive are chasing each of the 712,000 vacancies left in the economy, which is the lowest number of vacancies we have seen since early 2021. 📚 Behind that sits the 9.14 million people of working age are now economically inactive, close to one in five of everyone aged 16 to 64 sitting outside the workforce altogether. 🎯 Getting Britain Working must be the defining mission for the new Prime Minister, building the conditions where businesses can invest, grow and get Britain working again. Get this right is the only way that we can move people from welfare and inactivity into work. 💼
