NEWS // The remarkable Ron’s Place in Birkenhead has been Grade II listed following support from C20.
Created by Ron Gittins between 1986-2019, it features creatures from Greek mythology and murals of Ancient Rome, and is the first example of Outsider Art to be nationally listed

@swix @SAVEBrit @RonsSaving Hi Elizabeth, we’re being told that while that is also an amazing example of Outsider Art, it was listed because of the building, not its interior. So important that they’re both protected whatever the reason given on the listing!

🦁Great news! Gloriously eccentric Ron's Place in Birkenhead is given Grade II protection. Historical murals, Roman altar & fireplaces shaped like a lion & minotaur were created by Ron Gittins in his rented flat. After his death the community campaigned & fundraised to save it 👏
