The year is 2007. This is the first pic of an OkCupid profile. Based on your understanding of female psychology, which one of these girls does this profile belong to?

Blackpool was the biggest seaside resort in Bongland for decades, catering to the working and lower middle classes. You'd get certain weeks where it would be "Macclesfield/Bolton Week" where factories in those places would shut down. Cheap flights to Spain killed the city, and now it has three geographical neighbourhoods that are (or were) in the top 10 poorest in all of the UK. I did some business there not too long ago and got to know some great people who work at their city hall. Lovely, lovely people, but the city has seen much better days.

A lovely old film of Blackpool around 70 years ago. A perfect window into British seaside life in the mid 1950s.

Djokovic, at age 38-39, has reached the semifinals of the 6 of the last 7 majors. The tennis establishment wants Novak gone so so badly. His continued presence is a reminder of the shit that was pulled (on everyone, although Novak was certainly denied at least two more majors) from 2020-2023

Tennis legend John McEnroe explains how easily elite athletes lose their competitive edge and why superstars like Novak Djokovic and Tiger Woods became "shells of themselves" "You work for many years to maintain that edge... you don't want to lose it once you get there, because you've spent years with every part of the sport to get to a point where you've got an edge" "Right now he's a shell of a person he was. No one knows what's going to happen." "He was going to break Jack Nicklaus's record, no question about it. Well, 5 years have gone by and he's a shell of himself... maybe a lot of it's injuries." "I played Sampras in the semis of the Open when I was 31. I thought to myself, 'Alright, I got this... he's 19.' Turns out he's a pretty good player." "That seemed like it was going to happen... and it didn't"

Nolan only has one trick: blasting bass hits at a rising tempo for 50% of the film. You could put that over the Teletubbies & people would be gripping their seats in suspense. His films are otherwise gray muddled messes with dialogue written for kids glancing up from their phone.

April 10, 2021 One month after Fauci supported guidelines for schools that maintained social distancing and masking. One month after he criticized red states for lifting mask mandates and facilitating business openings. Fauci’s special assistant emails: “Congratulations… you’re rich!” Bank transfer for the $1 million prize from a foreign university

@tomselliott 2020-2023 has been by and large memory holed b/c a huge subset of people enjoyed it. Stimmy checks, lack of agency, yelling at people for not wearing the mask and going the "wrong way" in the grocery aisle Acceptance of this will prepare you for the future

Anthony Fauci, writing in his diary in March 2020, clearly loving life: "Big front page article abut me appeared in the Washington Post. Very flattering. The situation with my national and international fame is explosive and really unimaginable. It is not hyoperbole [sic] to say that today I am the most famous and talked about person in the country and one of the most recognizable peson [sic] in the world. "Countless profiles on me in multiple media. I cannot even read all the things that are written abuyt me since I am so busy….seriously. POTUS seems to be enamored of me even though I am taking the spotlight away from him. We are developing a very unique and interesting relationship. The entire secret service corps is coming over to me and chatting. They let me into the first gate without even checking ID."

The Odyssey was good It’s the best movie you’re gonna get They don’t make The Godfather anymore. There won’t be a band as good as the Beatles either. You might get The Godfather of video games though

I really don’t like Christopher Nolan movies, not any of them; they all seem like pseudointellectualism a 13-year old would find deep.

@Mike_RMCF Don't you remember the promise of Bebe, Mike? ☠️ JM wins the EL (the only major trophy since Ferguson) and they pull the rug from under his feet. Haven't watched one second of that paper tiger since then
