Not built to last anymore? We got my kid a 2007 Corolla with the odometer such at 299,999 miles six years ago for $500. Never needed anything but standard preventative maintenance. I'm about to sell it for $1,000. Cars not being built to last is one of the biggest myths there is. If you just do the maintenance religiously on a Toyota you can legitimately get 20+ years out of it with no major issues. Nothing built before the late 90s can hold a candle to the stuff built after in terms of mileage you can get out of it.

My friend makes good money over $150k/yr. They kept waffling on a new car, didn't want to spend $35k on something small but new... Decided to buy a 10/yo Truck for $18k, they've now spent $9,000 on repairs, in under 6 months, and it still has problems... Used cars are too expensive, and not built to last anymore

my transmission died uncle told me: “just buy a reliable used car like we used to.” then i showed him the market. a decent 2015 honda with over 140k miles was like $14k cash. he said: “back in my day i paid $4,000.” i adjusted it for inflation and it was STILL cheaper than cars today then he hit me with “you just need to negotiate better.” now people are out here paying hundreds monthly for 8-9 years on used cars they didn’t even want. “just buy used” stopped making sense when used cars started costing what new cars used to.

@dubsndoo Wait, who the fuck is buying RVs if not the boomers? When I drove truck 90% of the dudes driving RVs were boomers.

Boomers didn’t buy RVs that they couldn’t afford, we tented it. Boomers didn’t buy new cars, we bought used ones. Boomers didn’t spend six bucks for a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Boomers could hang all their clothes in a four foot closet. Boomers didn’t cry how tough their lives were, we fought through the tough times. Boomers have everything they have because they managed their money, didn’t squander it on frivolous things, and invested it in proven technologies and long term successful businesses. Boomers have zero fucks to give for whiners, fools, and couch potatoes.

@CWEeditor @Gavin_McInnes They were Rastafarian so like yeah, they had a lot of biblical lyrics, but they also thought the Emperor of Ethiopia was literally Jesus.

@Gavin_McInnes Bad Brains had a lot of pro-Biblical songs & were against all drugs but cannabis. Lots of American bands were against casual sex & against abuse of drugs & alcohol.

They were glam. American punk (not HC) was very rare. Dead Kennedys Dead Boys Germs …

@Gavin_McInnes It sounds like you don’t think any American bands qualified as punk, just hardcore. What about New York Dolls?

No one wants to talk about the fact that there was a big four in fast food roast beef in the 90s. We really had it all.

Donald Trump’s tariffs are a direct tax on Pennsylvanians. They’re hurting the local farmers who feed our communities. They’re hurting the owners of our local diners, craft breweries, and convenience stores. They’re hurting our friends and neighbors. Donald Trump’s economic chaos is causing a lot of pain for real people and families — and he doesn’t give a damn.

@cherryxprentiss I've never had Chinese takeout that didn't have containers like this. Some of it is in a foil container with a plastic lid, but the vast majority of my order comes like this.

It's laughable that people act like no one ate out more than occasionally in the 80s and 90s. I grew up in a family restaurant. Grandfather was the owner, my mom worked there full time. This was in a town in Pennsylvania of less than 10,000 people. Not a wealthy place either. Majority of the residents solidly below the poverty line. We had multiple customers that ate there five times a week. We had even more customers that ordered takeout 2 or more times a week. People with families. In the 80s and 90s you could legitimately get a pizza from a mom and pop place that was comparable in cost to cooking at home. A 16 inch pizza was under 7 bucks with a topping. A 14 inch was under 5. Our regulars kept us in business from 1978 until we closed after my grandfather's death in 2001.

@WBVRich That pizza somehow used to feed a family of 4. Granted, it probably still could now if people observed portion control. Now you need three of them.

Part of the problem with the cost of eating out is that everyone wants to go to "Corporate Slop" and they pushed small restaurants out. Any place I go to that has a mom and pop analogue is more expensive than the small restaurant.
