@jmarshfof I remember years ago the radio broadcast had this new guy I’ve never heard of doing pre and postgame shows. Would have never thought at the time he was the future of penguins broadcasting. Even looking at it objectively, he calls an excellent game

This dude stepped into one of the biggest pairs of shoes in the history of the industry and made it his own. There’s a scrutiny that comes to that seat given who sat it in before, and this dude straight up carries the torch and both guys fill that void. A+ work. Good human.

The Steelers are declining the fifth-year option for left tackle Broderick Jones, per source.
The option would’ve paid $19.1M. Jones, who is coming off neck surgery, is set to be a 2027 free agent. He has 38 career starts and was playing well pre-injury.

I’m not worried about the Pens skaters tonight, I think they’re better and deeper than Philly. I am still very worried about Silovs. I don’t trust him, and he’s giving up some juicy rebounds. The Pens have been lucky it hasn’t hurt them yet, but I’m fearful of him melting down.

The NHL has zero interest in protecting its stars during the games that matter most.
This may be unpopular, but I'll die on the hill that the NHL playoffs being officiated completely differently than the regular season - making them favor physicality over skill - is ludicrous.

The "3-2-1 lottery" proposal, named to represent the number of lottery balls per team, would expand the lottery from 14 to 16 teams. Teams that do not qualify for the playoffs or play-in tournament but stay out of the relegation zone (spots four through 10) would receive three lottery balls each. Teams with a bottom-three record -- the relegation zone -- would have just two lottery balls but have a floor of the 12th pick while the rest of the 13 lottery teams could fall as far as the 16th pick. The 9th and 10th play-in seeds in each conference receive two lottery balls each while the losers of the 7-8 play-in games receive one lottery ball each. In addition, no team would be able to win the top pick in consecutive years or be able to win three consecutive top-five picks. Teams also would not be able to protect picks in the 12 to 15 slots going forward.

@_kyle_frey Both teams have done dirty things, as I said. But yes, in general, the Flyers are. They also promote it as an organization and seem quite proud of it. So I'm not sure why you're so troubled by it.

No mention though of Mantha uppercutting Sanheim despite not being in a fight. Or Rust trying to step on Konecny, or the fact he was sitting on Konecny wailing on him, or all the crosschecks Crosby has delivered in this series.

It’s a nasty series and both teams have crossed lines. But no one has been cheaper/more dirty in this series than Konecny, whose cross check of Crosby after the game had ended was clear intent to injure. Earlier in this series, Konecny tried to kick Rust. Very dirty player.

@zrich412 Defensive zone exits. They’ve played well in the defensive zone without the puck, but exiting the zone with the puck has been an issue. Reared its head again on Sanheim goal last night

One thing I’d like to see is the Pens clean up their play in the neutral zone. Seems like that’s where the Flyers are creating all of their chances this series. Feels like the Pens are dominating in the offensive zone & locking down in their own end. Need to get the PP going too.
