@GaullistTory Respectfully disagree - we can build it but our government cannot get out of our way and the corruption makes the costs untenable. We lost our ability to get things done as our country has become captured by unelected bureaucrats who are incentivized to never finish anything.

Canada doesn’t lack the ability to build high speed rail, it lacks the ability to build it economically. Chinese firms have solved that problem. Domestically they build for $17–21 million per km. I’d be curious what that looks like in a Canadian context.

The Liberal finance minister claims he recused himself in September 2025 of the $90 billion Alto project, for which his wife is the vice president. Yet here he is promoting the project in Senate testimony 6 months later. And here he is voting for it in the House of Commons. There it is in the budget he presented. And there is no recusal record on the Ethics Commissioner’s website. Nothing adds up. $90 billion is at stake. Tell the truth, Minister.
