The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comments in preparation for adopting final management recommendations. A summary of the verbal comments heard at the hearing will be provided to the PFMC at its April 7-12 meeting in Portland, Oregon.

The 2026 sport season is based on a statewide quota of 286,356 pounds. The annual catch quota of 1.65 million pounds in 2026 is the result of an allocation that the International Pacific Halibut Commission approved Jan. 22 for fisheries in Washington, Oregon, and California.

Beginning July 8, 2026, WDFW will no longer provide hunting and fishing licenses on waterproof, tear-resistant license paper and is encouraging the use of mobile licensing via their new MyWDFW app or the updated Fish Washington® app. Details: wdfw.wa.gov/newsroom/news-…
