Last day in the beautiful Cotswolds. Roman brooches, coins, pot & confirmation we have a circular plank-built Roman house with hearth. Constant last minute surprises. Thank you to all the team: you’ll see the @thetimeteam prog soon! @CotswoldArch #archaeology #wellbeing #veterans

Day 6 - a day of sorting out Roman roundhouse, lifting the hearth stones and finding dating evidence. We think it’s a timber plank building with more than one phase. Being buzzed by a Spitfire was fun too!!! #archaeology #veterans #wellbeing @thetimeteam @CotswoldArch

Into the circular Roman house now and finding hobnails, pots (squashed!) and animal bone. A Roman spoon outside too. Not much time left to resolve the form and function but hopes are high. The hearth tomorrow…. #Archaeology #Wellbeing #veterans @CotswoldArch @thetimeteam

Day 4: We now think the circular feature is a Roman building with a hearth! Lots of pottery & coins with Saxon burials & a splendid knife too. Huge thanks to @WEOROD for their help. Now to discover the purpose of THAT building! @thetimeteam @CotswoldArch #archaeology #wellbeing

Trench 2 now open on our Op Nightingale Cotswold dig. One word. WOW! But what is it!? And what is the pink stone in the middle? More soon. And trench 1 now has three Saxon burials. @CotswoldArch @thetimeteam #archaeology #wellbeing #veterans #roman

Starting to uncover the circular feature in trench 2 - will it be Bronze Age or 7th Century? Or will other elements like this Roman sherd be more relevant! @CotswoldArch @thetimeteam #wellbeing #archaeology #veterans #roman #saxon

A VERY soggy day 1 on our Cotswold dig didn’t make things easy, but trench one is now almost open and features are appearing…. #archaeology #wellbeing #veterans #saxon

Our Op Nightingale excavation with @CotswoldArch & @thetimeteam starts on Monday! Last time we were there, this remarkable bowl was found in a 6th Century context! What will we find next week? Watch this space!! #archaeology #wellbeing #veterans #saxon photo (c) @beardysnapper

My goodness me! A silver disc (part of a necklace) with embossed decoration about 4cm in diameter- just found, along with amber bead, silver ring and shaped cowrie shell. #Wellbeing #Archaeology #veterans @mod_dio @wessexarch @ArmywidowsA

We were excited with our Comb earlier but this 7th century spindle whorl is a thing of beauty! Look at the design - petals? Sun rays? It’s heavy but is it pot or jet - we don’t yet know. 7th Century we think. #archaeology #Wellbeing #Veterans @mod_dio @wessexarch @HelenGeake
