🇬🇧 The recent cross-agency collaboration of the MHRA, Home Office, GPhC and CQC should put medical cannabis companies on alert. The industry is now in the crosshairs of regulators who are carefully scrutinizing procedures and supply chains for any possible infringement, even if these are open to interpretation. The topic du jour is product naming and branding, with regulators insisting that specials medicines should not bear funky cultivar names nor be colourfully branded. Operators are being instructed to re-name products and re-design labels, or risk not being approved for future imports. This is probably just the beginning of a larger clampdown on some spurious practices that have elevated many companies' risk profiles to a level few would have considered 3 years ago. Are these agencies trying to put the genie back in the bottle? Is there an argument that without cultivar names, we are pushing patients back to illicit channels and ignoring the harm reduction element of this market?
