ADSPP aims at establishing and advancing party democratic frameworks towards enhanced party operations for democratic strengthening in Kenya’s political party system, focusing on making parties more accountable, transparent, and inclusive as fundamental pillars of Kenya’s democracy.

Today, the MDG Party sat at the table with power and purpose in a high-level strategic meeting with the Country Director of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), Ms. Maureen Oduori, alongside WFD-appointed Independent Consultant Kennedy Akolo.

@WFD_Kenya, in collaboration with @NAssemblyKE Public Debt and Privatization Committee, and key MDAs hosted three-day workshop last week on fiscal sustainability and public debt management—sharing best practices, insights, and key lessons learned.

Effective debt management is key to a sustainable and resilient economy. It: - Safeguards fiscal sustainability - Mitigates economic risks - Supports long-term development.

His vision and commitment were instrumental in advancing legislative openness, deepening engagement with civil society organisations, and institutionalizing Post-Legislative Scrutiny; key milestones that will continue to shape Kenya’s democratic governance.

Since assuming office as Director of the Senate Liaison Office in 2021, Dr. Buchere provided exceptional stewardship that strengthened the collaborative partnership between WFD and the Senate.

Today, we join the family, colleagues, and friends of Dr. Philip Brightone Buchere, PhD, in celebrating a life of service and leadership. We honour his legacy and the profound impact of his work. Our thoughts and prayers remain with his loved ones during this time of loss.

The discussions focused on reflecting on CSPEN’s five years journey and impact, analyzing the current political context and its implications, reimagining civil society engagement strategies, developing future scenarios and strategic priorities.

@Cspen_KE (Civil Society Parliamentary Engagement Network) members had a retreat last week to reflect on the five years journey and design strategy for continuous engagement with the Parliament.

@HassanOmarH reiterated on the importance of the political parties to be grounded on a solid ideology to build their internal democracies in order to achieve an inclusive, democratic Kenya.

@WFD_Kenya facilitated a session on People Centred Governance and the reconfiguration of the African State in the 21st Century, bringing in representatives from Political Parties @HassanOmarH, civil Society, and Youth @chibekamatara

22nd October 2025, @WFD_Kenya was honoured to partner with the @uonbi Department of Political Science and public Administration in delivering an International Conference on the Nature of the State in Africa in the 21st Century: Challenges, transformations and prospects.
