@jdorman81 This is the difference evteeen having skin in the game and not. $Coin had skin in the game and now has a stake worth $700 million. SITG or STFU @NTmoney

@jdorman81 Check out blackberry and apple 2007-2008. Market wasn’t pricing the future correctly. I actually think coin and hood win in different markets.

@wagmiAlexander Tokenization of everything will drive all non-utility/economic use to 0. It will drive all speculation back to utility. Friendly US admin will allow proliferation of utility tokens. The cleansing. You can feel the KOLs/nft/meme grifters squirming as the space is sanitized

@ZachLight16 Market will wake up when $Hood has a bad Q due to reduced trading while $Coin is stable due to the other business lines, stables, staking, custody, etc which have been built over last 5 years.

@WHEL8033 $HOOD maybe will have a strong retail presence but it would be a mixed market in terms of trading. Coinbase is much more attractive for users like me that use Base, onchain services, Coinbase one, $USDC etc. Not even talking about Coinbase Prime that onboarded many big players.

Unpopular take in CT: Robinhood is probably a net positive for Coinbase. Yeah, Robinhood makes trading feel like a casino and attracts retail like that, but most of their users are Wall Street apes now discovering crypto. The moment they want to do anything onchain beyond trading they’ll end up using Coinbase infrastructure one way or another. Meanwhile, Coinbase users are much more loyal than most think. Even when Binance US had 0% fees on $BTC, not many switched

No risk, no reward. With great risk comes great reward. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. Fortune favors the bold. Action produces information, @jessepollak is simply following big B’s foot step but done onchain.
Trev🙃r is hiring DM me!@whatdotcd

Whether you like it or not it’s incredibly cool that Coinbase has a culture that lets @jessepollak be this entrepreneurial. All big cos say they will but very few actually let employees take these kinda risks.

unpopular take: base launching tokens is fine, I actually think normalizing just launching tokens for lulz is a service and cryptoX is extremely inconsistent on the 'ethics' of this stuff the problem imo is zora is just kinda dumb, I'd rather have a pure memecoin than that but just a personal opinion

@WHEL8033 @ZachLight16 This. Heavy competition across all biz lines, customers hate them, and circle IPO exposing how little growth coming from usdc. BASE is the only good decision this company has made. Every acquisition & new biz line has been a flop or is short lived.
Jeff Dorman@jdorman81

Honestly don't know how $COIN survives - $HOOD & bulge brackets will win trading biz - Custody has no moat - Stablecoin int income going to $0 - Their customers hate them (look at the comments) - Acquisitions have been flops - Mgmt makes baffling decisions (buying back 0% debt?)

gm. Three key 2021 lessons many retail forgot: 1. Don’t trust Wall Street "experts" especially ones with “Merrill” or “Citadel” in their bio and ZERO tech understanding telling you about crypto. Gives strong FTX vibes. @jdorman81 is a textbook example. 2. Don’t store large sums on bridges or shady/centralized chains. Stick to Ethereum (and Base), Bitcoin, maybe Solana (barely passed recently). Hyperliquid? Trendy but could be hacked or rugged anytime. 3. Avoid unproven platforms offering “low fees” and “high yields.” Stick to trusted players like Coinbase. Don’t be the next Voyager, FTX, or BlockFi victim.

@ZachLight16 He really thinks all of these banks are going to want the lability of providing custody. He thinks these legacy institutions are going to out together their own infrastructure. He seems to be focused on trading only. Trading was what got coin started but infra will the future

Honestly don't know how people give money to this guy to manage their funds. Joke arguments and lack of understanding of the space I’m not even gonna bother replying to. As for $HYPE it’s not even in the same universe as $COIN lol, what are you talking about? I’d never touch Hyperliquid… your funds sit on some random opaque chain that could be frozen, hacked, or rugged any time. Once the regulatory gap closes and Coinbase can offer perps in the US, no one (except shady actors and hackers) will want to mess with these sketchy chains over something like Coinbase.

This is the asset the largest firms in crypto (exchanges, ETFs, OTCs, custodians) have made the focus of the industry? NDQ vs BTC is a puppet show Wake me when well capitalized entities shift focus to assets people will actually differentiate (i.e. cash flow producing DeFi)
Jeff Dorman tweet media
Jeff Dorman@jdorman81

14) Complete failure by the industry leaders turning crypto into a macro trading vehicle. $600 tn worth of investors buy CF assets, yet the big exchanges targeted the $10 tn who care about currencies & gold DeFi, DePIN, etc should have been the focus x.com/jdorman81/stat…

@SantiagoAuFund Have seen this take even parroted by Bessent. 65% of the population owns stocks another percentage owns directly through pensions. Also a good portion work for public companies. Mid to lower class pays attention to the market. This seems to be a Wall Street take
