Just got my first shot of the covid-19 vaccine! UChicago hospital staff have been wonderful.

And every four years, December 23 will come two weeks before the counting of the Electoral College votes by Congress on January 6 and the subsequent inauguration of the next president. It is timely. 11/11

Plus, December 23 comes right before Christmas. For Christians, it is extra time to celebrate the season of Advent. For all Americans, the government will finally have a non-sectarian justification for designating days at the end of December to be federal holidays. 10/

Here’s an offbeat proposal: December 23 should be a national holiday. This day would celebrate the anniversary of General George Washington resigning his commission as Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army after winning the American Revolution in 1783. 1/
