You’ve all heard of biopsy. But what happens after? Biomedical Scientist Yolly takes us inside a lab, where science turns cells into answers. Together for health. #StandWithScience. NOTE: Gloves are required when handling fresh tissue. Once the tissue is fixed and processed, it is no longer infectious and can be handled safely without gloves.

Stand against ageism. This form of discrimination not only harms individuals but also has serious consequences for their physical and mental well-being. Today's daily dose addresses this critical issue.

A 3 day training of UNODC-WHO Drug Prevention, Treatment and Care (DPTC) sensitization kicked off today in Abuja. Designed to build awareness and strengthen the capacity of stakeholders to address drug use as a public health issue rather than a criminal one. @Fmohnigeria

Stronger health systems save lives. In Niger State, @WHO is working with the Government to strengthen primary health care so women, men, and children can get the care they need when they need it. Routine immunization is improving. Coverage for MCV2 has reached 62% and IPV2 71%, up from below 40%. This means more girls and boys are protected from vaccine preventable diseases. During a visit to Minna, WHO Representative @DrPavelUrsu met health workers, reviewed progress, and heard directly about the challenges and solutions shaping PHC in the state. @WHO also visited communities affected by the recent attack in Shiroro LGA and met survivors receiving care at IBB Specialist Hospital. Health workers acted quickly, and WHO is supporting emergency coordination, trauma care guidance, and essential supplies. This work is possible because of the commitment of the @NigeriaGov, frontline health workers, partners, and donors investing in stronger PHC and emergency readiness. School resumes today across Nigeria and inclusion must resume with it. Children with hearing loss can learn, thrive, and fully participate in school; when the right support is in place. Inclusive classrooms don’t happen by chance. They are created through deliberate, inclusive teaching practices that ensure every child can follow, engage, and succeed. Here’s how teachers can actively support participation for learners with hearing loss in the classroom 👇🏾

Stronger partnerships help deliver better health for people in Nigeria. WHO Nigeria and the Ambassador of Hungary discussed how collaboration supports humanitarian needs, safer water and resilient health systems for women, men and young people. Hungary’s support for preparedness, humanitarian projects and capacity building contributes to healthier communities and helps protect vulnerable groups. @WHO continues to work with partners and donors to expand access to essential services. In the past year, WHO-supported programmes have helped improve: •Access to safe water, quality, and hygiene services for over 6.7 million people, including women and children in underserved and cholera-prone communities across Bayelsa, Plateau, Niger, Kano, Lagos, and Cross River States. •Sanitation Safety Plan (SSP) initiatives have reached more than 350 communities across five states—Lagos, Bayelsa, Bauchi, Niger, and Abia, strengthening water and sanitation systems and improving basic WASH services for vulnerable populations, particularly women and children. Climate resilience programmes are helping protect over 5 million people in high-risk areas through early warning systems, solarization of primary healthcare facilities, and the domestication of climate-informed health planning and adaptation interventions across 16 states, in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health, FCDO, and Lafiya Palladium to expand access to essential services and improve health outcomes across Nigeria.
