Namibia’s Round 3 polio type 2 vaccination campaign coincides with the African Vaccination Week, which concludes today, 30 April. This year’s theme, “For every generation, vaccines work,” highlights the importance of vaccination at all ages and the need to reach every child—especially those who have not yet received any vaccines (“zero-dose” children). As we mark the end of African Vaccination Week and the national polio campaign, remember: 👉Vaccines have saved over 150 million lives globally 👉They protect against more than 30 life-threatening diseases and infections Protect your child today. Ensure all children aged 10 years and below receive the polio drops and are up to date with routine immunization. #VaccinesWork #TogetherForHealth #StandWithScience #africanvaccinationwee

The Opuwo Health District officially kicked off the Round 3 polio vaccination campaign this morning, joining the nationwide effort to protect children against poliovirus type 2. The campaign runs from 27–30 April 2026 across Namibia. All children aged 10 years and younger are eligible—even if they received polio drops in previous rounds or are up to date with routine immunization. Vaccination teams will be going house-to-house and are also available at all health facilities. 👉 Parents and caregivers: Make sure your child (10 years and younger) receives the polio drops. Every dose counts in keeping Namibia polio-free!
