27 years ago today, my family and I survived what would become the largest F5 tornado ever recorded. With wind speeds clocked at 318 mph, it ripped us out of my parents’ tanning salon like rag dolls. Debris nearly beat each of us to death, and I took a shingle to the back, missing my lung by a single millimeter. We were immediately picked up by an ER nurse in a Ford F150 and taken to the hospital, where both my mom and me went in for surgery. It took 256 stitches and 57 staples to put me back together. My dad didn’t have any injuries that surgery could fix, only time. He looked like someone beat on him for an hour with a 2x4. I’ll never forget the little girl that rode in the back of the truck to the ER with us… she had marrow coming out of her nose from her injuries. She didn’t make it. #may3rd #okwx #tornado

My dog is dying. We learned this week that Aggie has aggressive bone cancer with probably a month left to live. I’m devastated. She’s such a sweetheart, so loving and gentle, and it feels like the true tragedy is that so few people got to know and love her outside of my family. So if I could beg a moment of indulgence from the internet, I’d like to tell you about the most precious dog I’ve ever known. This is Agatha.

Not to be dramatic but… In the middle of a literal global dumpster fire… MY DOG BEAT CANCER. Chancey is officially tumor free. Scans clear. Unheard of. He fought like hell. He won. The chaos hasn’t stopped. But I’m not dimming this light. I refuse to minimize this. He beat cancer. Thanks for listening.

I lost my beautiful, wonderful dog today. Harper did not feel well yesterday, but today, she crashed. A tumor ruptured and she bled internally. I'm not ok. She was my love, my soul, my best walking and frisbee partner, and the reason I'm here. I don't know how to go on.
