Barry is known as one of the football daft parts of Wales. @Kaynomc has been a leading figure over 8 seasons and is loved in the area. Barry is also known for its amazing Welsh Medium Education sector and he will continue to play a part there as a Welsh Medium parent.

A year ago I tried to persuade a parent of a toddler at one of the boxing gym's in Barry to chose @ygsantcurig1. He informed me earlier this evening that his daughter is very happy at @MeithrinYSC. This is terrific news for their family and for the Welsh Language in Barry.

I enjoyed refereeing an U14 girls game yesterday at Bryn-Y-Don where AFC Abercynon played Dinas Powys who play 1 division higher. Excellent performances all round. It was nice to converse in Welsh with Felicity, Isabelle, Nia & Eryn from @9Rhydywaun. Y Cymreictod oedd gryf iawn.

I refereed a in Barry yesterday. Most of the @YGBroMorgannwg pupils who played know me & they used Welsh with me. This is important in the context of the language sometimes being seen as one of the school & work. May the language keep growing in Barry as a community language!

Fe gafodd Morgan (disgybl bl 11 @YGBroMorgannwg) ei gem gyntaf fel Dyfarnwr ddydd Sadwrn diwethaf. Mae hi y Dyfarnwr benywaidd cyntaf yn y @VoGAFL ers blynyddoedd. Morgan had her 1st game as a referee last Saturday. She is the 1st female referee in the Vale League for many years.

Yesterday was an important day for the Welsh Language in South Wales football with all 3 Match Officials being Welsh Speakers. 2 of the 3 do incredible things within Welsh Medium Education at @Ysgol_Glantaf & @YmgyrchPwllCoch respectively. I know all 3 & they are brilliant!

It was a pleasure to speak with Logan and Ameer (bl10 @BroEdern) in Welsh after a game I officiated yesterday. We discussed Bro Edern and their time at @BroEirwg & @yberllandeg. I also had a chat with their mothers, both originally from Ceredigion. Mae'r iaith yn fyw!

1 of them is at an English Medium Secondary. I hope that the school offers every support in her studying Welsh as a 1st language. My own view is that this should be a statutory right but that is for another day. (2)

Other than Clwb Cymric & Inter Penarth, I do not recall so many players using Welsh with me as yesterday in an u12 girls game involving Gwaelod Rangers. Nerys, Lily, Lana, Lucy, Nina-Rhi all so proud to speak Welsh & of @gwaelod. The majority of them now at @YsgolPlasmawr (1)

Not only was yesterday's u16 ⚽ game of a very high standard & a pleasure to referee but it was great that Rhiannon & Elan from @Ysgol_Glantaf and Macey & Ella from @YsgolPlasmawr were so keen to converse with me in Welsh. Mae'r iaith yn fyw ⚽🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

💔 Gyda thristwch mawr y cyhoeddwn y bu farw un o’n disgyblion yn sydyn dros y penwythnos. Roedd Marc Aguilar o 8 Rhymni 2 yn ddisgybl poblogaidd a hoffus a oedd yn serennu ym myd y campau. Roedd ganddo lawer o ffrindiau ym Mro Edern a bydd colled fawr ar ei ôl 💔 It is with great sadness that we announce that one of our pupils passed away suddenly over the weekend. Marc Aguilar of 8 Rhymni 2 was a popular and likeable pupil and a keen sportsman. He had many friends at Bro Edern and he will be missed sorely #TeuluBroEdern
