Canada goes to the polls Monday. There's one party that stood up for working people in the pandemic. One leader who has the courage to make the wealthy pay their fair share so everyone gets the medication they need. That's why I support the @NDP and @theJagmeetSingh.

@DoctorMuuro @latstetter To note, 75% of these refugees were able to be employed who arrived in 1979-80 in Canada and many have to change their professions due to language barriers and so forth. For example, a teacher to a cook. Also, they need to find jobs fast in order to sponsor their families.

Of course there are few that are wealthy and take a plane to the US, Canada, Australia, etc. But there are many vietnamese that escape by foot (e.g. Cambodia) and boats (hence "boat people") and many died along the way through crossfire and pirates.

@latstetter Also to note, with many conservative news outlets emphasizing "socialism" and "communism" as a fear tactics and many older vietnamese americans barely escape from their war torn country and dont want to see "America" in the same position to their birth place is a real thing. :/

@latstetter It's pretty complex. Vietnamese americans views are similar to the Cuban Americans which they fear/hate communism. Since, many vietnamese ppl were refugee to escape communism regime. However, good news is many younger vietnamese americans views are different from their parents.
