@PeterHRatcliffe Someone is not guilty solely by association, public figures meet all sorts of people and it is impossible to vet each and everyone. This goes for all public figures, not just Liberals.

Sir Nicholas Winton rescued 669 children from the holocaust. Some of the survivors surprised him 50 years later.

I think Ontario deserves a Minister of Education who was educated in public schools and understands the issues of public education from experience, whose children attend public schools. I think Ontario deserves a Minister of Health with at least one Degree, not a Diploma.

@PeterHRatcliffe There are a number of eye surgery related private surgical centres, including for cataracts. Some ophthalmologists currently do same day procedures in office surgical suites. No wait, paid for via OHIP and much less expensive to the system than in hospital.

Exactly how many privately owned fully equipped and staffed surgical suites with recovery capabilities exist at this time in Ontario? It's time for the press to get this answer, that should be easy and I bet it's a little one-hand number.

@PeterHRatcliffe Is the gov. capable of efficiently admin. any program? What a mess ODSP is. What a mess healthcare is. Those are Prov. matters, but can Fed. admin. services be better? It seems to me that gov. is in the business of creating dependance on the gov., not actually helping people.

./5 Please do comment or question. I want to make a week (or more) of posting and will adapt my discussion points to your considered input, exactly the way good government should work. Twitter is not an ideal venue for complex discussions, but it's efficient and real-time.

When I mention Universal Basic Income I often hear the objection: "I don't believe in giving someone something for doing nothing, it will make people lazy" Poor Canadians are not lazy, they often work long hours at several jobs and continue to be poor. ../2

@PeterHRatcliffe And some were gifted trust funds founded on money from the petroleum industry. So they might not relate either?

A worker making $15/hr. would need to work at least 347 hours just to pay for CandiB's sheets and towels. Let's remember that, once elected, MP's are in the very top percentage of Canadian incomes, so they might not relate to the struggles of average Canadians.

@PeterHRatcliffe We also have NORAD obligations/cross training ventures with the US. So there is some merit in this. Also, the decision to purchase this jet was made by the Harper government, so either PMJT can’t be bothered to investigate on his own, or he agrees with the procurement.

The SAAB Gripen is the fighter jet Canada needs. Or another of the European fighters. Canada spends way too much energy and money to be more like the US and having the latest expensive weapons. Wars will begin and likely end in Europe, so a European fighter makes good sense.

@SenWhitehouse Respectfully, “nobody wants to be sitting in the dark” is incredibly reductive. Winter has a finite amount of sunlight whether you “want” it or not. DST plunges our children back into darkness in the AM. Wouldn’t you agree sunlight makes more sense in the AM #SaveStandardTime

@nvanderklippe Maybe that was why the Russians brought crematoriums with them. To destroy the evidence of dead soldiers. They could say they defected and avoid paying the wereguild.

@TrollAdopt They will just charge more to renew your license. Slight of hand. I believe QC, MB and a couple other provinces do not charge sticker fees.
