@Rainmaker1973 Maybe, instead, for tall buildings they should have rocket powered ejection seats like in jet fighters and James Bond’s Aston Martin…or maybe stairs are more practical.

In South Korea, some tall buildings have small gravity escape systems where you clip in, release a brake, and gently lower yourself to safety, without any electricity needed.

🚨 BREAKING Carney gets caught. RED HANDED. This morning my spruce called Carney’s Nepean constituency office: IT WAS ALL ENGLISH. No French. Not bilingual. This is the same PM who said the Air Canada CEO’s English-only condolence video showed “a lack of judgment and compassion.” The same PM who said Air Canada has “a responsibility to communicate in both official languages, regardless of the situation.” I called his office an hour ago: THEY QUIETLY SWITCHED IT TO FRENCH. I HAVE RECEIPTS. This same Parliament voted three years ago NOT to require the Air Canada CEO to speak French. Only the Bloc voted for it. They chose not to make it mandatory. Then summoned the CEO for not doing it. Two pilots are dead. A fire truck with no transponder on an active runway & one controller doing two jobs. And Ottawa spent the day policing the language of a grief video while the PM’s own office wasn’t even compliant? UNTIL HE GOT CAUGHT? Rules for thee. Never for me. Trudeau 2.0.

🚨🇨🇦The "Adults in the Room" just got caught violating federal law. ⚖️ This recording proves @MarkJCarney ‘s constituency office was operating an English-only line this morning—a direct violation of the Official Languages Act. The Timeline: 1️⃣ Morning: English-only voicemail. 2️⃣ Noon: Viral backlash. 3️⃣ Afternoon: Stealth bilingual update. He lectures Quebec on rights while ignoring his own legal obligations in Ottawa. It’s not a mistake; it’s the arrogance of a government that thinks the rules don't apply to them. 🏛️ @BarbaraBalCPC @mario4thenorth @MarcNixon24 @JayGenXer @TheBuckYouWill @SatireSquadHQ #CdnPoli #MarkCarney #OfficialLanguages #Quebec #FrenchRights #Canada

🚨🇨🇦 "I'm very disappointed," says PM @MarkJCarney . The House of Commons has officially summoned the CEO to explain himself. Is he politicizing a tragedy?🤔 #MarkCarney #OfficialLanguages #AirCanada #Canada

The UN is a corrupt joke More slaves were held by Africans than were EVER sent across the Atlantic 7 in every 1000 Africans is a slave TODAY: 10 MILLION people It took 300 years for 10M slaves to cross the Atlantic 🤦‍♂️ And the Arab Slave Trade in Africans continues TODAY! So where are the protests outside the embassies & high commissions of Nigeria, Sudan, Mali, Chad etc? Utterly contemptible. This is not about slavery at all. This is an attack on Britain, America and the West. Slavery is universal and as old as man. What was unique was the Christian evangelical movement that spread across Britain, America and Western Europe that led to the West ending its BRIEF involvement in slavery. Never forget: Britain was the first country in world history to deliberately make itself poorer in the pursuit of a moral good - i.e. the vast sums it expended enforcing an end to the slave trade on land and the high seas. We must call this nonsense out. Me at Cambridge:
Politics Global@PolitlcsGlobal

🚨🌍 NEW: The UN has voted to recognise the slave trade as “the gravest crime against humanity” and also called for reparations to the countries impacted The UK, France and other EU member states abstained whilst the US, Israel and Argentina opposed the proposal

@Rothmus I can never figure out X…what will generate impressions and which will not. I guess the critical factor for responses, is timeliness. Often the goofiest posts are more popular than the ones I spent time thinking of.🤷🏻‍♂️

I await Governor General Mary Simon's condolence video in French. Why do the Liberals hold the CEO of Air Canada to a higher standard of bilingualism than their own appointee as Governor General, who hasn't learned French after four years in the role? TBH, I would rather have the CEO of our flagship carrier focusing his scarce time on safety and reliability than language training.
Tristin Hopper@TristinHopper

Air Canada has gone 43 (!) years without a fatal incident. My entire life up to this point has been lived in a country where the flag carrier never got a single person killed in a crash. The record is a totem to what serious people can accomplish. So naturally, Mark Carney is screaming at them to instead focus on nonsense.

@BBCWorld No wonder this arrogant dude has such trouble connecting with the electorate and has to use backroom dealing to get his majority govt, rather than earn one from voters. Two people died in this tragedy and he’s politicizing it for electoral gain?!?Absolute disgrace😱

The Taiwan and Canada trade cooperation framework agreement was finished in March 2025. It's just awaiting the PM's signature. What could be the delay? Especially when the government has been busy signing MOUs with other countries with far fewer tangible benefits to Canada.

@nexta_tv The LotR’s movie (trilogy) was brilliant but the Hobbit movie was a boring monetizing contrivance. Interesting to have a sequel, but hopefully like godfather sequel, rather than most of the monetizing forced abominations we see generally from sequels.

The Lord of the Rings is getting a continuation A new film set in Middle-earth has been announced — The Shadows of the Past. It is being developed in parallel with The Hunt for Gollum. The announcement was timed to Tolkien Reading Day. The story takes place 14 years after The Return of the King. Sam, Merry, and Pippin reunite and set off on a new journey. At the same time, Sam’s daughter Elanor begins her own adventure and uncovers secrets dating back to the War of the Ring. The cast has not been revealed yet, but actors from the original trilogy are expected to return. The script is written by Philippa Boyens, Peter McGee, and Stephen Colbert. The producer is Peter Jackson. Colbert said the idea grew out of early chapters of The Fellowship of the Ring that were not included in the films — where the hobbits meet Tom Bombadil and nearly die. It remains unclear how this storyline will connect with the older characters 14 years later.

@Rainmaker1973 I hope this really happens this time and gains bipartisan support, just in case the Democrats return to the trough in 2028. Space, the moon and Mars, is too important to cede to Chinese totalitarianism.

🚨 NEWS FROM NASA In a bold and decisive move, NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman just announced a $20 billion plan to build America’s permanent base on the Moon — and they’re doing it in just 7 years. Today, NASA officially confirmed it is cancelling plans for the Lunar Gateway — the small space station that was supposed to orbit the Moon as a waypoint for astronauts. Instead, those components and resources will be repurposed directly for the surface base, accelerating humanity’s return to sustained lunar presence. The goal is clear — move beyond short visits and flags-and-footprints missions. NASA wants a real, long-term foothold on the Moon: habitats, power systems, rovers, scientific labs, and infrastructure that can support crews for months at a time. This base will serve as the foundation for deeper space exploration, resource utilization (like mining lunar ice for fuel and water), and eventually — Mars. The $20 billion investment over the next seven years will reshape major parts of the Artemis program. It comes with real urgency too — China is pushing hard toward its own crewed Moon landing by 2030, and the U.S. is determined to lead, not follow. This isn’t just about science. · A permanent lunar base means:Testing technologies for Mars missions in a real off-world environment · Developing in-situ resource utilization (turning Moon dirt into rocket fuel and oxygen) · Opening the door to a true cislunar economy · Inspiring the next generation of engineers, scientists, and explorers Private industry will play a massive role, as always — with contractors already building key hardware now being redirected. This is the kind of ambitious, focused leadership the space program has needed. From the first boots on the Moon in 1969 to building a thriving outpost there by the early 2030s — what an incredible leap forward. Significanly, the Moon isn’t just a destination anymore: it’s becoming home base for humanity’s expansion into the Solar System.

@niknanos Interesting result your March 24 poll. A pretty significant move back to the Conservatives (but still a double digit Liberal lead). With Carney buying a majority in floor crossings, I don’t see him risking an election w such volatility & his poor performance in ‘25’s election.
