We haven’t been using this platform but are making an exception today in case non-bots still look to it. We are posting memorial signs to honor people killed in traffic violence in West Seattle and to motivate action on #VisionZero. #WDR2023SEA @SNGreenways

@bobco85 @jeremycole @seattledot This does appear to be more about removing the people who had been living on this dead end street than about protecting people on bikes for the one block where we don’t need physical protection. Why here? Why not elsewhere?

@jeremycole @seattledot This is anti-homeless infrastructure, not bike infrastructure. Directing 2-way bike traffic into an extremely narrow lane is unsafe. This 1 block long dead end street that had absolutely no bike safety issues, but homeless people existed here who the city wanted to remove.

Thank you all who joined us for Robb Mason's memorial ride. It's heartbreaking to unite under these circumstances, but it's necessary now more than ever that we speak up about the injustices occurring on our streets. We're proud & grateful to have you all with us ♥️ #VisionZero

@MayorofSeattle @SeaTimesOpinion "The single most important thing the city can do is redesign our most dangerous streets, starting with Aurora Avenue North, Lake City Way Northeast, Martin Luther King Jr. Way South, Rainier Avenue South and SODO streets in south Seattle... 80% of pedestrian fatalities happen."

Riding a bike should not only be for the brave. No one should be seriously injured or killed on Seattle streets. That’s the promise of #VisionZero but it’s far from the reality, despite our city’s “vision.” We need ACTION for safer streets!
Seattle Streets Alliance@SNGreenways

Tragic news. Our hearts break for this person and their loved ones. This is the key bike route connecting West Seattle to the rest of the city, and must be safe for everyone.

@joefitzgibbon Thank you Representative Fitzgibbon! Yes AND please consider sponsoring legislation to create #PresumedLiabilty for drivers involved in collisions with people walking or rolling. How else can victims with no memory or worse prove what happened? Drivers rarely lose memory.

LAST DAY: Tell the Seattle Parks Department people should be able to safely walk, bike, roll, and play on streets in parks. Ask them to include this idea in their strategic plan. Learn more and take action: seattlegreenways.org/blog/2021/10/1…

Hey @seattledot I am a daily bike commuter from West Seattle. You want more of us to do this, right? Please help. As far as I can tell, as of today, there is no legal way to get into Pioneer Square. You can watch how I did it, but it's not safe. @dongho_chang @westseattleblog

We've been working with our local groups @dvsafestreets @WSeaBikeConnect + other orgs to support the @Duwamish_Tribe's efforts to get a safe crosswalk & sidewalk to their Longhouse & Cultural Center. Thanks to collective action, a new crosswalk & signal will be installed in 2021!

From Friday afternoon til today: 600 people have signed the petition to keep Lake Washington Blvd open for walking, biking, rolling, running, skating, commuting, and recreating. If you value this community-focused space, please add your voice as well: stayhealthystreets.org/LWB

What does protect people are Jersey Barriers. Why don't we use them more @dongho_chang? There's an extra one that's been leaning up against a temporary fence and encroaching in the E Marginal Bike Lane for about a year...

Flex posts without bolts... bolt. @seattledot I'm happy to return this flexpost and plastic curb, but it was creating a danger. Thank you for doing something, but these don't last and don't physically protect people on bikes. Particularly when not bolted.
