What started as a training grew into a story of opportunities for women. Through a skills development initiative led by WWF-Pakistan, with the support of English Biscuit Manufacturers (EBM), 50 women were trained to transform discarded plastic into hand-woven bags using traditional handloom techniques. The training, conducted in collaboration with Dastaan e Rumaan and Beaconhouse National University, focused on practical, hands-on learning, from material preparation to weaving, stitching, finishing, and quality control. By turning waste into usable products, these women are not only reducing plastic pollution, but also building skills that can support their families and strengthen their communities.

In Yazman, District Bahawalpur, Mehtab is one of 75 women who have undergone skill development and financial literacy training under the Sapphire Regenerative Cotton Project. What began as a training opportunity opened a pathway to financial independence for her. Today, Mehtab is passing that knowledge forward: training other women in her community, sharing the techniques and confidence that can help them build sustainable livelihoods. Her story is a testament to the power of opportunity: when women gain skills and support, they don’t just change their own lives, they uplift entire communities. #WWFPakistan #SustainableLivelihoods #RegenerativeCotton #WomenEmpowerment

The hoopoe, known as Hudhud, is remembered in Islamic tradition as the messenger in the story of Solomon (Hazrat Suleiman) and the Queen of Sheba. As we wrap up our #WildLegendsofPakistan series, the story of this remarkable bird reminds us how deeply wildlife is woven into our folklore, history, and cultural imagination. #WWFPakistan #WildLegendsofPakistan #Hoopoe

Building climate resilience requires collaboration, learning, and exchange. Under the Water Resource Accountability in Pakistan (WRAP) programme, WWF-Pakistan facilitated an exposure visit for government officials from Gilgit-Baltistan to Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The delegation included representatives from the Planning & Development Department, GBDMA, Water Management, Agriculture Department, and GB-EPA. During the visit, participants explored a range of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) implemented by WWF-Pakistan, from community water filtration units in Farash Town to recharge well interventions in Haripur, and landscape-level work in Siran Valley including afforestation, safe drinking water systems, and community livelihood initiatives. The delegation also engaged with partners at the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) and visited the Recharge Pakistan project office, where discussions focused on integrating nature-based approaches into public sector planning. Such learning exchanges help strengthen institutional understanding of how NbS can support water security, disaster resilience, and sustainable development. #WWFPakistan #IWMB #RechargePakistan

As we wrap up World Wildlife Day, we take a quick trip along the pipeline track with Sabiha Zaman, famously known as the “Queen of Botany.” For over 26 years, she has been at the forefront of biodiversity conservation with WWF-Pakistan, dedicating her life to protecting Pakistan’s natural heritage. At the pipeline track in Donga Gali, Sabiha shares her remarkable knowledge of medicinal and aromatic plants, a critical part of biodiversity that connects health, heritage, and livelihoods. Her expertise in identifying plant species in Ayubia National Park, along with their scientific names, has made her a true inspiration for women in Pakistan and beyond. This International Women’s Day, we honor her commitment, passion, and the legacy she continues to build in conserving our natural world. #WWFPakistan #InternationalWomensDay

Wildlife protection belongs in everyday conversations — even on your daily commute. WWF-Pakistan, in partnership with the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), took the message against illegal wildlife trade to one of Lahore’s busiest public spaces — the Orange Line Metro Train. From trafficked birds to illegally captured reptiles, wildlife crime is pushing species toward extinction and disrupting entire ecosystems. By bringing this message to thousands of daily commuters, we’re turning awareness into action — right where it matters most.

Wildlife is essential to healthy ecosystems, resilient communities, and our shared natural heritage. At Deva Vatala National Park (AJK), our Wildlife Crime Monitoring Experts - under the project “Combating Wildlife Trafficking in Pakistan” - are working hand-in-hand with local communities, Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), and the AJK Wildlife Department to safeguard biodiversity and respond swiftly to wildlife rescue calls. These joint efforts show that conservation is strongest when people are part of the solution, protecting both communities and wildlife. On this #WorldWildlifeDay, we celebrate the power of collaboration in protecting nature.

Long before pharmacies, there were forests. And they’re still prescribing life. We're celebrating #WorldWildlifeDay and the ancient wisdom of plants. This year’s theme: Medicinal and Aromatic Plants: Conserving Health, Heritage and Livelihoods. A reminder that nearly 60,000 plant species are used globally for medicinal and related purposes. They stabilise soil, filter water, produce oxygen and help keep us healthy. What can't they do? We love plants! #WWD
