It’s well-known that Wales is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world, with one in six species here at risk of extinction from our lands. It’s now time we do something about it ✍️@WalesLink wp.me/p8Mk4U-13dG

Last week, Welsh Government announced a watering down of the Sustainable Farming Scheme’s tree planting rule to tree planting plans; we must be sure plans amount to action, or public money will be wasted. Check out our new blog on why this is important. waleslink.org/whats-happenin…

We are concerned that insufficient advice 4 farmers planning to expand tree cover may lead to good biodiverse habitats being displaced by trees We encourage @WelshGovernment to inc sufficient finance to provide a full programme of nature focused actions in the Optional layer 3/4

We are encouraged that the role of permanent species-rich grasslands as carbon stores will be recognised in the new SFS. 2/4🧵

We welcome @WelshGovernment commitment to require farmers to manage 10% of their land as habitat for biodiversity if they're to benefit from funding available under the new SFS🌱 1/4🧵

A joint @Defra @WelshGovernment consultation on Bathing Waters starts today. We support any resulting measures that improve the ecology of rivers and the safety of recreational users. Current designations for Bathing Waters are primarily designed for coastal waters.... 1/3

From a fair deal for farmers to meeting 30 x 30 commitments and providing green stimulus, we've joined @WalesLink in their letter to the First Minister calling for a step up in nature positive actions in Wales.

On Wednesday 19 WEL members wrote to @PrifWeinidog, and the Minister for Climate Change and Rural Affairs, @huw4ogmore, calling on the Welsh Government to make #PeaceWithNature and deliver on environmental commitments 🌍 waleslink.org/wp-content/upl…

To face up to the nature emergency and the commitments of the Edinburgh Declaration, the Welsh government must invest in nature’s recovery now, before it’s too late. Huge thanks to all our members who supported the letter 👏

🌍 Providing green stimulus, raising at least £1bn a year to fight the nature and climate emergencies and back the Nature Service for Wales. Cutting budgets for NRW won’t help achieve the GBF, deliver a just transition for Welsh communities, or help recover and restore nature.
