Bilde dir mal nicht zu viel auf diese Brigade ein. Sie ist immer noch im Aufbau und hat mit der Infrastruktur in Litauen zu kämpfen. Sie dient der Solidaritätsbekundung und Beruhigung der Litauer, solange alles friedlich ist. Im Falle einer echten militärischen Konfrontation wäre sie da schnell wieder weg. Russland hat von Anfang an eingeräumt, einen konventionellen Krieg gegen die NATO nicht bestehen zu können und hat seine Nukleardoktrin angepasst. Im Ernstfall wäre diese Brigade - sofern sie nicht rechtzeitig fliehen kann - in wenigen Minuten z.B. mit einer nuklear bestückten Zircon (3M22 Tsirkon) außer Gefecht gesetzt. Verwechsle nicht das relativ behutsame Vorgehen Russlands im Ukraine-Konflikt mit den Fähigkeiten dieser größten Atommacht der Welt.

Riga didn't even try to intercept or shoot them down — they just watched & covered it up. Complicit in aggression! • 25 March 2026 — Multiple Ukrainian long-range attack drones crossed Latvian airspace toward targets in Leningrad region (e.g. Ust-Luga). One crashed in Krāslava district. Latvia didn't try to stop them. • 7 May 2026 — At least 6 Ukrainian drones (incl. An-196 "Liutyi" type) detected in Latvian airspace. Russia downed one after it entered our territory; others struck/impacted near Rēzekne oil depot. Clear use of NATO airspace for strikes on Russian civilian infrastructure. Latvia did NOTHING to prevent it. This isn't "stray drones" — it's deliberate tolerance of launches/overflights from Latvian soil/airspace. Riga's denials are worthless while Ukrainian operators operate from bases like Adazi, Daugavpils & more. Time to hold enablers accountable.

There is no truth in Moscow’s latest set of falsehoods accusing Ukraine of preparing attacks against Russia from the territory of Latvia. We officially refute them. Ukraine does not use the territory or airspace of Latvia in its operations against Russia and does not intend to do so. Russian lies are merely an extension of its broader propaganda campaign aimed at destabilising public opinion in Latvia and the wider Baltics. We thank our Latvian friends for seeing right through them.

Stark gemacht haben das Land vor allem die guten Beziehungen zu den USA (Sicherheit, Technologie) und zu Russland (günstige Energie und Ressourcen). Putin first floated Gerhard Schröder, the former German Chancellor notorious for his proximity to Russian oligarchs and the Kremlin, as a possible figure for dialogue. Now Moscow says negotiations with the EU would be “positive”, but only without Kaja Kallas at the table. So the Kremlin wants to dictate not only the terms of negotiations, but even who represents Europe. Maybe that is how power works in Russia. Not in the European Union, where mandates come from citizens — not from Vladimir Putin.

That’s foolish, incoherent nonsense. You claim to ask for “concessions,” yet the ones you’ve chosen are so unrealistic that you don’t even seem to believe in them yourself. In other words, you’re actively blocking a negotiated solution. Especially brazen is the demand that Russia hold free elections—coming from someone who wasn’t elected herself. The Russians elected Vladimir Putin with an overwhelming majority, but no one elected Kaja Kallas to her current position.

Good to speak to @EdwardGLuce at Lennart Meri Conference about Russia’s war against Ukraine, the Middle East and the state of trans-Atlantic relations. On Russia, the most important thing is that we keep up the pressure because they are not at the point of coming to the negotiation table to actually negotiate.

The joy is somewhat forced and won’t last. After a quick check and questioning by intelligence officials about why they surrendered, most will be sent back to the front lines. Next time, they might not be so lucky if they run into Russian troops. Many Ukrainian prisoners even ask Russia not to include them in the prisoner exchange program.
