When the graduating @GoldwaterInst presents for lab meeting, it is easy to forget your hearingb from a graduating senior and not at a graduate student's defense. Go Ava go!

I still don’t understand why major funding agencies like NIH don’t have their own jounals that are mandatory and free to publish in if you are funded by them. It would solve many of the issues we have now and save those agencies a ton of money wasted on publication fees

@scopedbylarry I started my tenure track position in 2015 so that's definitely pre tenure.

@WallaceHPVlab Really, because we had one in 2017 in Florida. Wasn't total where we were, but it was definitely an eclipse.

When I suggested that this was a bit of catch 22 situation, he also laughed.

When I asked if he had ever seen an R21 discussed without data, he laughed and said "no".

Had an NIH program officer tell me that being criticized for not having enough preliminary data in an R21 application was a fair criticism because "if you present any data, reviewers have the right to demand more".
