@mr_p_carnehan @2351onthelist @ArgyleBecky @TedDitchburnNNP Is that the Scottish version of Kneecap?
English

@2351onthelist @ArgyleBecky @TedDitchburnNNP Closer to home will be fine. I reckon if this lot sharpen up their drill, they could put on a decent Freedom Parade in Glasgow.

Outrage as SNP and Greens block Freedom of Glasgow for Scots army regiment, although Edinburgh and Aberdeen have granted them freedom of the city. Ever more proof the rotten to the core SNP and Greens are not for Scotland. scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/news/politics/…

@jan_murray There are some very impressive young women arriving on the ‘gender critical’ scene out of university at the moment. Connie Shaw started it off coming out of Leeds, Maeve Halligan and her team at Cambridge followed up. And now this Uni of Leicester team. Great work!

@JakeWSimons I wish Trump would support Israel on this and ban all NYT journalists from the White House press pool until the resolution of this lawsuit.
It might focus their minds a bit.
English

The complacency with which mainstream media outlets, from the New York Times to the BBC, are squandering their credibility in the pursuit of an information war on Israel is breathtaking. Of course, we all know that these people operate under the assumption that the leftwing worldview is equivalent to objective reality. But this?
The effect is to drive disillusioned audiences into the Wild West of the internet, where hucksters pose as experts, shock jocks launder outrage for clicks and conspiracy theory is big business for the likes of Candace Owens, Tucker Carlson and others. The liberal media, in other words, is providing the oxygen for the very people it most affects to loathe.
With the BBC’s ratings in freefall and the New York Times surviving on the strength of Wordle, sport and features, these journalists are so enraptured with their own ideological reflection that they don’t see the harm they are doing to truth. And when that is lost, what then?

@WalleyVision @IsntWorkingPod @latsot @UniofOxford Something to do with wearing enormous rubber tits to work from what I can make out.
English

Update: Rubber-boobed @UniofOxford tutor Matt Rattley says recent 'vitriol' is 'par for the course being visibly queer on the internet.'
But it's impossible that Matt's Oxford colleagues haven't met to discuss him.
Prediction: if he's on a contract, it won't be renewed.

@leekern13 @GlasgowAlbum That made me chuckle more than it should!

lIf you do anything today, watch @MaeveHalligan at the Cambridge Union. I genuinely think this was the first time many people in that room were confronted with the hard reality of the trans debate, rather than the slogans that usually surround it.
@BuckAngel was exceptional: calm, articulate, humane. Ultimate respect.
And then there was Helen Webberley. I remember once thinking the criticism directed at her by GC women was excessive, especially the claim she was ‘pure evil’. After hearing her speak, I no longer think that. She is totally insincere. I can deal with hard ideologues- they believe they are telling the truth; they are genuine, @HelenWebberley is different.
One audience member, a trans-identified male and former patient of hers, stood to speak during points of information. His account of how he had been treated was deeply disturbing.
Watch the full debate. It is worth your time.

@Gaynotqueer1 All that filtering and he still looks like Frankenfurter from Rocky Horror?

@athenaeumbc I’m all over No.7. I would give up Greek because it’s not nearly as useful as Latin for enjoying Asterix books.

This thread is very good on the problems with the ECHR.
Rajiv Shah@RajivShah90
That's not quite right. Under the Refugee Convention serious criminals can be deported back to their country of origin even if that country is unsafe. By contrast under the ECHR, criminality is not an exception to the principle of non-refoulement. 🧵

@theasewell05 @MaeveHalligan @BuckAngel I am speechless at this speech. A new warrior queen has joined the fight. I feel the future is safe if remarkable students like Maeve are stepping up.

@OldRoberts953 “I put money in all your pockets…even when you was out of order!”

@salltweets Shocking but not surprising (given the current state of the law in Australia). It is cruel for you that the fight must continue upwards into Parliament.
Sending love and support from London.
