Congrats to @bmentamu graduate student Linghao Hu for successfully passing his PhD final exam! 🎉🎓 His research to combine machine learning with fluorescence lifetime imaging to predict cell metabolism is truly exciting as it will provide more specificity to label free imaging.

My family was honored to accept the Distinguished Academy of Biomedical Engineering Award from @UTBiomedical on behalf of my late grandfather, AJ Welch. He was a true pioneer in #BiomedicalEngineering and #BiomedicalOptics. His legacy lives on in the work of so many today.

We just got back from Optica: Biophotonics Congress where @bmentamu graduate student @jmart443 gave a conference talk on the effects of short pulses of infrared light on metabolic reaction rates. We had a great time at the meeting, feeling inspired and motivated!
