BLAST tv Austin Major Update 📌
We are aware that the decision to replace BESTIA at the BLAST tv Austin Major 2025 has led to a number of questions about the decision making process. In the interests of transparency, we are more than happy to provide further clarity regarding the factors which have led to this unfortunate outcome.
As is the case for any of our events, all participating teams are subject to the visa requirements of the host country. Since February, BLAST has been in consistent communication with all teams regarding the US visa process required to attend the event. This outreach began well ahead of qualification to ensure that any issues or delays could be addressed before the event.
In total, we have seen 31 teams and 158 players successfully secure the required visas, following the application process put in place for the tournament; all within the published deadlines.
BESTIA qualified for the tournament on Thursday, 17th April.
Each team is ultimately responsible for securing its players’ visas and they are always at the discretion of the host country. We shared all relevant visa information and stayed in regular contact to support their process.
During this time BESTIA had appointments where they failed to secure all player visas. On Friday, 16th May we issued a clear and final deadline to all teams with outstanding visa issues: Wednesday, 21st May at 5:00 PM CEST. By this time, all teams were expected to have secured visas for enough of their submitted roster in order to compete in Austin. This deadline was put in place to help maintain competitive integrity and logistical event planning.
As of the deadline, two of BESTIA’s players had not obtained the required visas and as a result, we proceeded to confirm they had not met the requirements to participate in the tournament and had to be replaced. This decision was made in line with the tournament participation agreement (TPA).
While the relevant players subsequently did receive visas, there is no dispute that they were not in place in time to meet the required deadline. Accordingly, we had no choice but to uphold the rules of the tournament, which all teams were aware of.
It is a matter of huge regret for everyone involved that this has resulted in BESTIA not being able to compete at the Austin Major. We recognise the disappointment this news brings to their fans and wider esports community.

We have an exciting update from Dan Clancy on the Partner Plus program in Latin America:
"Twitch is a global community, and we are very proud to support streamers across the world in finding success on Twitch. We’ve recently made a number of strategic investments in Latin America. From the launch of our Spanish stream series ¡Vamos!, to increasing our presence at local events such as Gamescon, to supporting more streamer-led events, we're building a comprehensive and inclusive support system for Latin American creators. Today I’m excited to share our next step in building a sustainable future for Twitch streamers in the region.
Updates to the Plus Program
We launched the Plus Program in 2023 to help inspire, grow, and sustain creators building their streaming careers on Twitch. The Plus Program offers two levels of enhanced subscription net revenue share rates for Affiliates and Partners who meet the eligibility criteria. Eligibility is based on “Plus Points” which are earned through recurring channel subscriptions. Since the Program launched we’ve continued to make it more accessible by opening it to Affiliates, moving from counting subs to counting Plus Points, and adding the “Level 1” 60/40 tier in addition to the “Level 2” 70/30 tier.
We regularly monitor representation to ensure we are helping streamers globally access the program. The data we have tells us that cultural nuances and economic realities in LATAM have made it difficult for creators of similar size to meet Plus program requirements compared to those in other regions. Given this, we see an opportunity to better support creators in LATAM by making higher revenue shares more accessible. That’s why starting June 1, 2025, we're implementing region-specific qualification criteria that better reflects the unique economic and cultural landscape of LATAM streaming communities.
Under the new structure, LATAM streamers can qualify for:
- Level 1 (60/40 revenue share) with 50 Plus Points (down from 100) for three consecutive months
- Level 2 (70/30 revenue share) with 200 Plus Points (down from 300) for three consecutive months
Streamers who meet the criteria in March, April, and May will unlock twelve consecutive months of increased revenue share on June 1. Eligibility will be evaluated monthly, and streamers meeting the requirements for 3 consecutive months will unlock an enhanced revenue share.
The streaming landscape continues to evolve, and so do we. We remain committed to making more improvements that benefit our global creator community moving forward. We hope these changes will make building a vibrant community on Twitch possible for more Latin American streamers."
