Eight years after the forensic field began openly discussing STR sequence nomenclature, the ISFG recommendations have been released! Some STRs are characterized by “tricky” mutations near the repetitive region, which made this endeavor difficult.

Very excited to share our work on the FORCE panel, a 5,422 SNP marker set including common forensic SNPs and a novel kinship SNP set. We used hybridization capture to test the FORCE panel on reference samples, WWII cases, and 200-year-old bones. Check it out!
