Read about how the @AFPNMPCC #NationalDNAProgram is using their new, accredited, end-to-end forensic investigative genetic genealogy capability to resolve cold & current unidentified humans remains cases in 🇦🇺. Your 🧬 may help us solve more! #FIGG #Optin
The Conversation - Australia + New Zealand@ConversationEDU

There are 750 unidentified human remains in Australia, could your DNA solve these cases? 🤔 In 1983, human remains were found on Kangaroo Island, but advanced DNA technology resolved this case in 2023, writes @DrJodieWard + Dennis McNevin (@UTSEngage). #Echobox=1696796639-1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">theconversation.com/there-are-750-…

@chiarabarbieri_ How kind of you to say, Chiara! ☺️ I am so glad that we had the chance to meet at Haploid Markers. It was a pleasure to hear your presentation on #GeLaTo and learn more about your work at the intersection of genetics and language. Fascinating! I hope we meet again soon. Ciao!

@rickwasmith What do you mean? I recently worked on a “vampire project” that is quite relevant today IMHO. We can learn about past understanding of disease transmission, practices of “medicine”, mycobacterium evolution, and in our case surname prediction from DNA.

I'll say it again. Much of what gets called bioethics in aDNA and elsewhere today represents extractive practices every bit as pernicious as the "Vampire Projects" of the 90s and 00s.

Hats off to @matthewgamette for leading forensic labs into the future! I’m grateful to Matthew and to Mike Coble for inviting me to be a part of this initiative as a member of the validation group. We had a productive meeting in December to plan WGS validations for forensics. 👍

Thanks to FSI Synergy for publishing our perspective article on a new model to implement technology into public laboratories through collaborative validation studies. Let's get to work! How about starting with FIGG? sciencedirect.com/science/articl… #ForLabLeaders
