SWFD lifeguards are changing beach flags to double red on March 5 due to life-threatening surf hazards. Double red flags mean it is illegal to swim or boogie board in the Gulf. 🚩🚩 Violators can face $500 fines from law enforcement. 1/2

Walton County is under a cold weather advisory until 10am on January 24th. There is a high potential for black ice because of the melting today, so don't go slip sliding away on us! If you do not have to go out, stay home!

IMPORTANT UPDATE: I-10 ALERT: Effective 2 p.m. EST (Jan 23), a portion of WESTBOUND Interstate 10 (I-10) will reopen to traffic from Mile Marker 70 (State Road 285) to the Alabama/Florida State Line (shown in green on the map). To reiterate, this is for westbound only. Additional sections of I-10 are anticipated to open later today. In the meantime, for the sections of I-10 still closed, please seek alternative routes until further notice. As our crews continue to work around the clock, FDOT reminds travelers to drive with caution as winter weather and icy conditions are still present and while we work with law enforcement to re-open the entire corridor.

ONE EASTBOUND LANE OF HIGHWAY 20 BLOCKED DUE TO ICE IN CHOCTAW BEACH The eastbound lane of Highway 20 is blocked from Wildwood Street to Alley Street in Choctaw Beach due to ice. @WCSOFL deputies are interchanging east and westbound traffic around a large patch of ice in the area. Please use caution, drive slow, and expect delays.

IMPORTANT I-10 CLOSURE ALERT: Effective 7p.m. EST tonight (Jan 22), Interstate 10 (I-10) will be CLOSED in both directions from the Alabama/Florida State Line to Exit 192 (U.S. 90) in Gadsden County due to remaining snow, ice, and water on the roadway combined with incoming hard freeze temperatures overnight resulting in icy and dangerous conditions on bridges and roadways. Please seek alternative routes until further notice. With conditions changing rapidly and bringing unexpected circumstances, stay put and off the roads for your safety. Remember to heed all local and state guidance.
