ever since @barra_lena's work on PLP-mediated catalysis in the biosynthesis of altemicidin, I've been fascinated by PLP. very cool to see this enzymatic pathway intercepted by photoredox-generated radicals!

We reconstitute active artificial hydrogenases using apo-protein of [Fe]-hydrogenase and synthetic Mn complexes. The most active variants appear to operate via a reaction pathway deviated from the native pathway.
