Kudos to the people who are parenting while doing their PhD. I don’t know how you do it.

This is worth watching for the cognitive dissonance on display. As far as I can tell, the arguement is that implementing Brexit in the form of a customs and regulatory border between the U.K. and EU damages Brexit.
Farrukh@implausibleblog

Jacob Ree-Mogg says we don't need to apply the terms of Boris Johnson's Brexit deal, because food standards in the EU are much higher than they are in the UK. And by applying them, we turn the UK into a miniature EU.

Public services have been savaged by austerity. @TheIFS reports that further cuts are planned. Can the Chancellor really be planning tax cuts? If so, say out loud what is being given up in order to fund increases in income for those who pay tax.

Not satisfied with fighting the culture war in politics, Tufton Street has turned its eye on national institutions like The National Trust. Restore Trust, a dark money backed reactionary organisation is trying to take over the National Trust - while pretending to be a grass roots campaign. @carolvorders investigates:

Declaring war on the poor. In what universe is this anything other than immoral? I have been citing figures like these. Yet again, scarcely can I believe that society would reduce education spending at all, let alone reduce it more for disadvantaged children.
Institute for Fiscal Studies@TheIFS

Schools serving disadvantaged children have seen larger funding cuts. The most deprived fifth of secondary schools saw spending per pupil fall by 12% in real terms between 2010 and 2021, compared with 5% for the least deprived fifth. Read the report ifs.org.uk/news/schools-s…

The 2p cut in National Insurance will cost the Government £9.4 billion next year. Alternatively, it could have used the money to pay junior doctors what they deserve and end the strikes instead. And invest an extra £140 million a week in the NHS with what was left over.
